Why Attend?
This Expo brings together every local agency from Pope County, each ready to showcase the best of public safety:

- Try, Learn, Remember:
Wander through interactive safety demonstration booths—test a fire extinguisher, experience emergency lights up close, or discover how quickly responders prepare in a crisis. Each booth offers memorable, practical lessons you can take home.

- Meet the People Who Protect You:
Chat with police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and public health experts. Hear their stories, learn about their daily challenges, and see the real impact they make in the community.

Something for Everyone!
Activities designed for all ages—children, teens, and adults
A rare chance for kids (and adults!) to sit in the driver’s seat of emergency vehicles
Safety tips and hands-on demos to make your home and family safer

100 Years of...Preparedness 🔧

As we celebrate 100 years of Saint Mary’s, we’re proud to spotlight the behind-the-scenes heroes who ensure our hospital operates smoothly—our incredible Engineering team.

From daily maintenance to unexpected events, this team is always ready. One unforgettable example of their dedication happened leading up to the year 2000, during the Y2K scare. For over a year, our Engineering rep met biweekly with a system-wide committee and compiled binders full of compliance documentation to ensure that all hospital systems would withstand the potential disruptions of the new millennium.

On New Year’s Eve 1999, the team was on-site—with extension cords in hand and portable generators staged on rooftops. Emergency water and potable supplies were prepped and ready. As the clock struck midnight, they stood ready in the cafeteria—and not a single system failed.

That same preparedness continues today—whether it’s preparing for events like the solar eclipse or managing day-to-day operations so that our clinical teams can focus on what matters most: patient care.

👏 Thank you to our Engineering team for being a constant force of reliability, innovation and quiet strength throughout our 100-year journey. You are an essential part of Saint Mary’s legacy and future.
