Clarence Wilburn “Buddy” Brindley, age 84, of Phil Campbell, passed away from this life on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at North Alabama Medical Center.

Buddy worked several years at the Mobile Manufacturing Housing and in the warehouse of Wrangler Distribution Center. He was a hard-working man who always made sure his family was taken care of. He was a horse trader, loved riding wagons, and had a love for horses and mules. His hobby was simply working and he was always available to do anything he could for someone. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. He was a very good man, and we will cherish his memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Bessie (Aderholt) Brindley; sister, Jeanette Harrison; and brother, George Brindley.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 59 years, Gwendolyn “Kay” Brindley; son, Clarence Stephen Brindley (Bretta); grandchildren, Stephen Cole Brindley (Alison), Alexander Seth Brindley; great-grandchildren, Luke C. Brindley, John Howard Brindley; sister, Martha Rae Burleson; nieces & nephews, Jimmy Harrison, Tony Harrison, Shane Burleson, Jamie Brooks, Robert Brooks, Meagen Glasgow, Meredith Wiley, and Anita Harrison; a host of great-nieces & nephews; and a host of friends.

The visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Scott Delashaw officiating the service. The burial will be at Phil Campbell City Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Jimmy Harrison, Tony Harrison, Mikey Moore, Andy Dolan, Seth Brown, and Sawyer Lynch.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Russellville Hospital and North Alabama Medical Center that cared for Buddy and our family.

Lesa Nanette Hooper, age 64, of Russellville, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at her home.

Lesa was an inspiration to so many people. She dedicated her early life to her work as a Job Developer for the North Alabama Skill Center. After retiring, she dedicated her free time to helping with the grandkids and living her best life on a cruise ship. All she ever wanted out of life was to be a better version of herself, today than she was yesterday.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Gene Hooper, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Andrea Boyers, Kevin Wayne Williams, Jessica Williams; grandchildren, Josh Pinkard (Bailey), Maggie Hovater (Colton), Addy Williams, Braxton Austin, Hudson Drummond; great-grandchildren, Chandler Jo Pinkard, Judsen David Hovater; mother, Geraldine Hooper; brothers, Bill Hooper Jr. (Susan), Brent Hooper (Carol); niece and nephews, Mandy Hooper, Trey Hooper, James Hooper; special aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

The visitation will be 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Seth Hood officiating the service. The burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.

The pallbearers will be Keith Fagen, Josh Pinkard, James Hooper, Trey Hooper, Danny Minor, and Tommy Halbrooks.

Anna Mae Williams Yocom, age 91 passed from this life on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was greatly loved by all and will be greatly missed. We were blessed to have her with us for so many years.

Mae was born on November 30, 1933, in Marion County and attended school at Hackleburg and Wiginton schools. She was a hairdresser for a while in her home, was a line supervisor at Russellville Sportswear; and worked in shipping at Celotex until she retired.

Mae had a fun, loving, and outgoing personality. She could always find the good in everyone and always had a smile on her face. She was the Queen Mother of her chapter, the Dixie Star Dollies and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was very stylish, always loved to dress fashionably, wearing her jewelry and bling from head to toe, and loved wearing hats to match her outfits. Mae loved all animals, from fish, turtles, cats, dogs, and even adopting raccoons and possums. She loved to cruise and travel with her family and friends. She could always be counted on to have a good time wherever she was. But first and foremost, she was a Christian lady who loved to attend church. She leaves us with many wonderful memories and stories to share.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond D. Yocom; father, Dalton Williams; mother, Myrtle (Dollar) Weems; stepfather, Vilous Weems; siblings, Lynn Williams, Donald Williams, Jimmy Weems; and daughter-in-law, Gladys Howell Yocom.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Ray Yocom (Denise), Judy Yocom Allen; grandchildren, Michael Allen (Heather), Candi Ghrigsby (Cliff), Tonya James (Booper); great-grandchildren, Dylan Bales, Kallie Allen, Braden Bales, Keslie Saint (Korey), Chloe James, Charleigh Mae James; sisters, Alice Hall, Carolyn Stevens (Steve), Rita Tarver (Dennis); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Thomas Loyd officiating the service. The burial will be at Gravel Hill in the Mtn Star community.

The pallbearers will be Michael Allen, Booper James, Cliff Ghrigsby, Dylan Bales, Braden Bales, and Korey Saint. Honorary pallbearer will be Brian Weems.

Curtis Walker Roden, age 86 of Russellville, passed away in Friday, September 12, 2025 at North Alabama Medical Center.

Curtis was a Godly man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved to attend church and was a deacon at Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was the most giving and caring man, never expecting anything in return. His most favorite thing to do was picking cotton and being a farmer.

The visitation will be 12-2 pm Monday, September 15, 2025 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Trevor Hallmark and Bro. Keith Prince officiating the service. The burial will be at Gargis Cemetery .

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 68 years, Rachel Roden; grandchildren, Dustin Berryman (Kesha), Lori Oller (Davis), Heather Brewer (Titus), Levi McCormack (Emily); 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Grisham; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 3:30 pm, the service will begin at 4:30 pm. The address of the Church is 311 North Jackson Avenue, Russellville, AL 35653. Patsy passed away at home after a long illness. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, maw maw and friend. She leaves to cherish her memories, son, Johnny Black, Jr (Amanda), daughter, Denisha Black (Jennifer); grandchildren, Corey (Amanda), Dylan (Jessica), Hannah (Wesley), Maryann, Terri, Jessica, Aubrey, Elyza, Ruby, Gabriel; 7 great grandchildren; sisters; Rhonda Holley (Bobby) and Brenda Bendall (Terry). Several nieces and nephews and many bonus children and grandchildren. Also, her four-legged baby Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her husband the love of her life, Johnny Black, Sr., parents, Murl and Betty (Reed) Bryant, brother Junior Bryant.
She was a jewelry associate at Walmart for over 10 years. Former convenience store owner in Frankfort. Patricia loved her family and friends. She loved watching Alabama Football.
The visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel, with a graveside service following at 4:00 p.m. at Jonesboro Cemetery, Bro. Andrew Gasque officiating the service. The burial will be at Jonesboro Cemetery. Pallbearers with be Corey Snow, Dylan Snow, Wesley Denton, Chad Holley, Mayann Jones and Irene Crandall.

Deborah Miller Vandiver, age 69, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at her residence.

Deborah loved her children and her grandchildren. She and her husband, Donny, ran a restaurant for several years. She loved to cook and always had a meal ready. She was Mom and Nana to everyone. The friends of her children were always welcome in their home and she always made sure they ate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donny Vandiver; parents, Raymond & Hazel (Black) Miller; sisters, Dianne Glass and LaDonna Saarinen.

She is survived by her children, Amanda Peppers (Jeremy), Scott Vandiver, Matthew “ Matt” Vandiver (Brittney), Andrew Vandiver (Jamie); grandchildren, Reagan Peppers, Eric Peppers, Austin Vandiver, Aubrey Vandiver, Allison Vandiver, Karleigh Vandiver, Gracie Curry, Serena Vandiver, Levi Vandiver, Weston Vandiver, Mattie Vandiver, baby soon to arrive Darcy Vandiver; great-grandchildren, Chase Vandiver, Sarai Vandiver, Kairo Vandiver, Zaiyon Vandiver; siblings, Ronnie Miller (Lisa), Linda Campbell; brother-in-law, Jeff Saarinen; daughters of the heart, Mary McCalpin, Alyssa Fast; and a host of nieces & nephews.
