4. Protect who is behind you and respect who is beside you.

5. Never make the first offer in a negotiation.

6. Don't take credit for the work you didn't do.

7. Dress well, no matter what the occasion.

8. Speak honestly: say what you think and mean what you say.

9. Ask more than you answer.

10. Leave the profane language for the less educated.

11. Avoid placing your phone on the table when eating with someone.

12. Listen, smile and most of all make eye contact.

13. If you're not invited, don't ask to go.

14. Never be ashamed of where you come from.

15. Don't beg for a relationship.

A little info on BPD
Dealing with borderline personality disorder requires cultural changes in how we live and organize our societies.

The SET-UP principles will equip those living with BPDs with the necessary skills to help them on their journey toward healing. The therapist must set the goal of seeing themselves as navigators rather than controllers of the borderline. They aim to point out landscapes of interest and help them re-route around the storm. Whatever approach the therapist employs, the ultimate goal is to help the borderline return home and improve relationships there rather than abandon them.

The prevalence of BPD should teach us to be more humane in our interactions with others. Since most patients go undiagnosed, we can be kinder to those who display one or more of the disease’s symptoms.
