It’s pretty common these days to hear someone say something like, “Give me facts, not feelings.” This kind of statement elevates the importance of thoughts and downplays the importance of feelings. The reality is relying only on your thoughts or only on your feelings can be problematic and can lead to many kinds of problems. It’s generally best to notice your thoughts and feelings so you can evaluate and make sense of them without being reactive to them or controlled by them.
