The Gratitude Grind — Training for What You’re Thankful For
As we close in on Thanksgiving, routines get messy. Days get darker. Energy dips. And it’s easy to let your training slide.
But this is exactly when training with gratitude matters most.
Gratitude isn’t just a feeling — it’s a practice. It’s reps. It’s sweat.
Every time you walk into the gym, you’re saying “thank you” with your effort:
💪 Thank you for legs that move.
💪 Thank you for lungs that breathe.
💪 Thank you for the ability to get stronger.
Coming back from shoulder surgery taught me this firsthand — every push-up, every overhead press, every pull-up became something I was grateful to be able to do again.
When you shift from “I have to work out” to “I get to work out,” everything changes.
You stop punishing yourself for what you’re not and start celebrating how far you’ve already come.
Here are 3 simple ways to train with gratitude this week:
1️⃣ Start your workout with one thing you’re thankful for.
2️⃣ Give energy, not excuses.
3️⃣ Share gratitude — it lifts the entire gym.
This is the season to grind with gratitude… and finish the year strong.

🦃 If you’re struggling to stay consistent right now, lean in — because this is the most important mindset shift of the season.
Training isn’t just about strength.
It’s about gratitude — for your health, your body, your people, and your second chances.
Every rep is a “thank you.”
Every workout is a reminder:
➡️ “I get to do this.”
➡️ “I’m thankful I can move.”
➡️ “I’m stronger than last week.”
This is the Gratitude Grind — the season where you train not out of obligation, but out of appreciation.
And if you embrace it now, you’ll finish the year stronger than you started.

The Comeback: Getting Back on Track Before the Holidays

Every year around this time, it happens. The air turns crisp, the days get shorter, and that summer freedom starts to fade into something more structured — or at least, it should.
But if you’re like most people, this season hits hard. Combine schedule juggling, the pre-holiday work pile up and those all too-short and so much darker days, it’s easy to fall off your game. You skip a few workouts. You grab takeout instead of cooking.
You tell yourself, “I’ll get back on track after Thanksgiving.”
Well, you know that’s not gonna happen — waiting until after Thanksgiving is like waiting until the snow melts to start shoveling.
Now is your comeback season.
This is when you reclaim structure, rebuild consistency, and set the tone for the holidays before they hit.

Why the Comeback Matters
The truth is, the holidays are not the problem. The problem is heading into them without a plan, without momentum, without the habits that hold you together when life gets chaotic.
If you start building those habits now, you won’t just “survive” the holidays — you’ll thrive through them. You’ll earn your celebrations, enjoy your meals, and roll into the new year with your head high instead of full of regret.
So what does that look like?

Start Small. Build Smart.
Here’s how to get your rhythm back before the holidays:
1️⃣ Show Up — Even if you’re tired, even if your workout’s only 20 minutes. Just get moving.
2️⃣ Plan Your Week — Don’t “wing it.” Write down your workout times and treat them like appointments.
3️⃣ Stack Your Habits — Add a new habit to something you already do.
☕ Stretch your body while your coffee brews.
💊 Take your vitamins after brushing your teeth.
👟 Set our your workout gear before bed.

The “comeback” isn’t about perfection. It’s about momentum. You don’t have to be 100% — you just have to stop being 0%.

Better to Take Two Steps Back After Ten Forward

If you fell off a little — so what? You’re human. What matters is that you start walking forward again.
As I always say: it’s better to take two steps back after walking ten forward than not moving forward at all.
You still have time. Let’s use it.

Three months. That’s all it took for George to change the trajectory of his health.
Two years after surviving a triple bypass, this traveling nurse decided to practice what he preaches — and take his own health seriously. In just 12 weeks of training, George dropped 20 pounds of fat, built his endurance, and lowered his resting heart rate to a healthy range.
Because of his hard work, George spent his summer days hiking and kayaking the mountains and waterways of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine — living fully, and proving that fitness is freedom.
It’s never too late to invest in yourself. George is living proof.
