About 1 in every 4 Vermont adults has been told they have high blood pressure, which means the force of blood flowing through your blood vessels is consistently too high. If left untreated, it can damage your circulatory system and lead to serious problems, such as heart attack, stroke, kidney damage or brain health complications, such as memory loss and confusion.

My Healthy VT is here to help with a FREE online High Blood Pressure class starting September 2 from 4:30-6pm. This class runs on Tuesdays through October 28. Sign up today: https://www.myhealthyvt.org/workshop_dates/online-high-blood-pressure-5/

It's a pleasure to work with Southern Vermont AHEC and the amazing interns participating in the College Student Health Internship Program (CSHIP). Thanks for all your hard work and engagement throughout the program, DeVaughn!

We’re excited to highlight DeVaughn Miller, one of our outstanding interns in this year’s College Student Health Internship Program (CSHIP)!

DeVaughn is a rising senior psychology major at Vermont State University Castleton Campus, is spending part of his summer at Rutland Regional Medical Center . Under the guidance of Jamie Bentley, MPH, Community Impact Coordinator, he’s contributing to the Community Health Needs Assessment by designing mock surveys that address burnout among healthcare workers—a critical issue in today’s healthcare landscape.

“I find community research fascinating,” DeVaughn shares. “Learning about a community’s needs, strengths, and gaps has been eye-opening. What I’ve learned about workplace burnout will support my future career in industrial-organizational psychology. I hope to help employees thrive in their work lives.”

Jamie says, “DeVaughn has brought strong research and engagement skills to the table. Collaborating with him has been incredibly productive and enjoyable.”
