Thank you to the Rutland Community for coming out and making our second annual Trunk or Treat event at the West Ridge Clinic an incredible success. We had a blast handing out popcorn and candy and seeing all the wonderful and creative costumes. The train rides were an added bonus! We especially enjoyed welcoming new participants from neighboring businesses in the line up of almost 20 separate trunks! An incredible night and so much fun. Happy Halloween everyone!

Early detection is the key! Be sure to talk to your primary care provider about when it's appropriate to get your mammogram and always pay attention to your body. Signs of breast cancer include:
– A new lump or thickening in or near the breast or in the armpit.
– A change in the size or shape of the breast.
– A dimple or puckering in the skin of the breast. It may look like the skin of an orange.
– A ni**le turned inward into the breast.
– Ni**le discharge other than breast milk. The discharge might happen suddenly, be bloody, or happen in only one breast.
– Scaly, red, or swollen skin in the ni**le area or the breast.
– Pain in any area of the breast.

Every year, around 3,500 babies in the United States die suddenly and unexpectedly while they're sleeping. Most of these tragic deaths are due to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) or accidental deaths from suffocation or strangulation. Safe sleep in a safe sleeping environment is essential for babies. The Boys & Girls Club of Rutland County is a safe place to learn & play and provides positive role models and educational programming. Members of Rutland Regional's senior leadership team toured the facility on October 15 and served ice cream to youth and staff. Many thanks to Jonathan Reynolds, Vice President, Clinical Operations at RRMC, who is a volunteer member of the B&GC Board of Directors, and coordinated the visit. The early detection of breast cancer through annual mammography and other breast exams is the best defense against receiving a late-stage breast cancer diagnosis. Generally speaking, the earlier the cancer is detected, the greater the likelihood of a successful outcome. When caught in its earliest, localized stages, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%. https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/breast-cancer-facts/
