Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

Thankfully, there are ways to improve Parkinson's symptoms! 😀 Our therapy team offers rehabilitation services to help improve mobility, range of motion, function, and speech for those living with PD. Call us to see how we can support you or your loved one.

💬 "I have had therapy at lots of other places, but this is the best I have ever had anywhere!" – Ms. Ella Jean.

👉 Ms. Ella Jean was admitted to Ridgeview Terrace in February of 2026 after having surgery related to a compression fracture in her spine. She needed full assistance with daily activities such as walking, bed mobility, bathing, and dressing. Ms. Ella Jean also had difficulty chewing and swallowing certain foods.

⭐ Physical, occupational, and speech therapies were started, and Ms. Ella Jean worked hard on strengthening, balance, transfers, and gait. She learned strategies for becoming more independent with self-care tasks and safely eating a regular diet. After completing her program, Ms. Ella Jean regained her strength and ability to be more independent. 👏

🗨️ "Ms. Ella Jean was always motivated to get better," said Teresa Knisley, PT. "She was willing to try anything we challenged her with."

🏡 Ms. Ella Jean was able to return to her independent assisted living apartment in March! She is now able to walk using a walker, and only requires supervision with higher level mobility and self-care tasks. Congratulations, Ms. Ella Jean, on your successful rehab stay at Ridgeview Terrace! ❤️

What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

🎉 Ella Jean Rich was recently able to return to her senior living apartment after a brief rehab stay at Ridgeview Terrace in Rutledge, TN. She came to us for therapy to recover from a compression fracture and spinal surgery.

April is Volunteer Month, and we are celebrating the amazing people of all ages who share their time with our residents. From calling bingo to painting nails 💅, performing music 🎵 to simply sitting and chatting, our volunteers bring an essential joy and connection to our community.
