Blind Brook Community Coalition

Blind Brook Community Coalition The Blind Brook Community Coalition's goal is to prevent and stop underage substance use in Rye Brook

The Blind Brook Community Coalition unites all parts of the Rye Brook community - parents, teens, educators, law enforcement, medical professionals, businesses, faith-based groups, civic group, youth services and substance abuse/treatment organizations – in a shared effort to promote a safe and nurturing environment for our children. We are focused on educating our community about youth substance-use issues and providing resources to support alcohol and drug-free young people in our community. Our strategies include implementing evidenced-based programs that have been proven effective in reducing youth substance use. They include:

• Educating youth and parents about the effects of alcohol and drugs on young people.
• Reducing access to alcohol by encouraging parents and other family members to refrain from providing alcohol to young people.
• Working with law enforcement to eliminate other sources of alcohol and drugs in our community.
• Fostering beneficial social norms in our community by encouraging positive peer influence to motivate teens and parents to make wise decisions about alcohol and drugs.
