Thrive Reiki That’s why I like to make it clear from the start: I’m here to help you relax… so you can breathe again. My approach is much more straightforward.

My Reiki Professional practice is devoted to helping you regulate stress and build resilience, so that you can gracefully navigate life's challenges and live your truth. There are a lot of myths and unrealistic expectations about Reiki practice when it comes to “healing.”

This makes it confusing to know what’s right for you when you’re stressed out, overwhelmed with anxiety, in physical and emotional pain, feel like you’re stuck or in the grip of a life crisis or challenge. You won’t find me laying crystals on your body or unblocking chakras. Simply consider me your healing facilitator, guide or mentor, rather than a healer, as it’s not ME fixing you… I’m here to support you in your journey to heal and come back to your true self. Rooted in the belief that to heal means to make whole, my practice focuses on stress relief and management and works with the mind-body-connection. In addition to touch, my tool kit, based on the Reiki system of natural healing, includes mindfulness and meditation techniques. Once your body calms down and your mind gets an opportunity to rest, your energy can do what it is supposed to do, which is to return your system (body-mind-spirit) to a state of balance. I also call this the Reset Your Energy process. When your body and emotions are not in chaos and crisis, your healing journey can begin. I’ve learned that the body talks, sometimes scream even, and that symptoms indicate when we’re off track and something needs to change within. I’ve experienced, personally and very painfully, that the greatest source of stress is when we’re working against ourselves, instead of with ourselves. MY APPROACH is based on creating and empowering a lasting change within you - and to provide you with tools to support yourself in between sessions and after our time together. It’s important to know that Reiki sessions are not substitutes for medical or psychological diagnosis and treatment. If you’re in need of medical or psychological care, I highly recommend that you see a licensed physician or healthcare professional. Yet, my practice can complement any medical or psychological care you’re receiving, as it focuses on stress relief and management and provides support during challenging times.

Life has a way of reminding us that change is constant. As many of you know, Thrive Reiki has gone through a few transitions over the years, and now another shift is on the horizon. I’ll be at my Rye location until September 13, and starting after that date, all sessions will take place at the office of White Plains Acupuncture in White Plains.

Like any change, this move brings both challenges and opportunities. I’ve noticed how easy it can be, especially during stressful times, to feel overwhelm, and to let activities that support and nourish me slip away, like skipping Yoga class, calls or walks with friends. I’m sure this sounds familiar as running on too much adrenaline or pushing through exhaustion seems to be the norm for so many. Even pausing for a few minutes of fresh air can feel like something we don’t have time for. That’s why I’m so grateful for my daily Reiki practice (which has been my non-negotiable go-to since 2015) and for the opportunity to return to Cape Cod for a few days at the end of August.

But it’s exactly in these moments of transition that caring for ourselves is most important. When we take the time to slow down, enjoy the company of others, eat well, rest, breathe, and seek support, we build the resilience to navigate uncertainty with more calm and clarity. Reiki can also be a wonderful way to create space for stillness and restore balance, especially when life feels unsettled.

Do you ever feel like you’re living life on autopilot? Checking off to-do lists, meeting others’ expectations, but not your own? Going through the motions simply because it’s what the schedule says?

It’s no surprise that so many people feel disconnected from themselves.

Whenever I notice overwhelm creeping in, I recognize it as a sign. A sign that I’ve gotten off-center and out of alignment. That’s when I know it’s time to stop. To pause the activity, and the overthinking, that’s adding to the tension and discomfort my body communicates to me.

Then, I find a relaxed, comfortable position and ask myself: What feels safe and supportive in this moment?

Do you ever feel like you’re living life on autopilot? Checking off to-do lists, meeting others’ expectations, but not your own? Going through the motions simply because it’s what the schedule says?

Sometimes it’s as simple as sitting quietly in a peaceful environment, reading a book, petting one of my animals, sipping a warm, non-caffeinated drink, or going for a walk.

When overwhelmed, anxious, or simply tired, it's easy to push harder or even “motivate” oneself through criticism. As if listening to the drill sergeants in the head would make us feel better, do better, or be better. Healing doesn’t come from pressure. It comes from and with gentleness.

Today, I'm sharing a few ways to practice being gentle with yourself.

We’re all on our own unique journeys. We all have our own individual needs, goals, and resources.
Reiki teaches the concept of letting go. Letting go of anything that keeps us from being fully present. It’s an invitation to let go… to let go of anger and worry, the what-if’s and should-haves, and to guide our energy towards the present moment, gratitude, and (self-)compassion.

Reiki is not something done to you—it’s something awakened within you.
Contrary to what social media is trying to sell us… Reiki isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about support. It is a practice, a tool, an energy to help us help ourselves.

A few years ago, a man in his sixties came to me while recovering from a stroke. When he first sat down in my chair, he said, “Please help me help myself. I know I can heal myself, but I need you to show me how.”
We began with three consecutive Reiki sessions to help his body relax and regulate. From there, I taught him the basic self-care practice: the nine foundational Reiki hand positions so he could practice Reiki on himself every day.

A week into his self-practice, which I asked him to do for 21 consecutive days, he emailed me: “I’m not feeling anything. I don’t know if I’m doing it right. This isn’t working. But I’m willing to keep doing it anyway.”

A month later, when he returned for another session, he walked in with a big smile.
“You won’t believe it,” he told me, “but love found me.” I’ll never forget this experience.

Ten Years Ago, Reiki Came Into My Life… And Everything Changed

On July 12, 2015, I took my first Reiki training—and I had no idea how profoundly it would change my life.

This class became my turning point. When I heard the Reiki precepts for the first time, a switch turned in my head. It was like someone handed me permission to be kind to myself. I began to see just how much pressure I’d been putting on myself, how long I’d been moving through life pushing myself and striving for perfection.

Reiki has given me another way. It is my anchor, my daily practice, my way of connecting with my body, my breath, and my inner world. It helps me become present and deepen my relationships—with myself and with others.

Now, a decade later, I continue to grow and learn as I support others as a Reiki Master practitioner and teacher. Reiki has taught me to stop pushing the river and start trusting the flow of life. To listen to life’s quiet invitations. And to believe that where life carries me is exactly where I’m supposed to be. For this, and so much more, I am deeply grateful.
