Let’s talk about something controversial! Cannabis use needs to be discussed with children and not hidden. When we sneak and hide things and they see us they think we are doing something bad! We have faught very hard to end the stigma of using this plant for our well being. So what can we do?
ma*****na with children:
Age-appropriate information: Tailor the information to the child's age and level of understanding. Younger children may require simpler explanations, while older children can engage in more detailed conversations.
Focus on facts: Provide accurate information about ma*****na, including its medical uses, potential risks, and legal implications. Present evidence-based research and explain that it can have different effects depending on the individual and the circumstances.
Promote critical thinking: Encourage children to think critically about the information they receive, question myths or stereotypes, and consider multiple perspectives. Teach them to make informed decisions based on reliable information.
Emphasize responsible decisions: Teach children the importance of waiting until they are of legal age to make any decisions about ma*****na use. Emphasize that the developing brain can be more susceptible to the potential risks and side effects of ma*****na.
Open communication: Create an environment where children feel comfortable asking questions and expressing their thoughts and concerns about ma*****na. Listen actively and address their concerns, dispelling any misconceptions they might have.
Discuss legal and ethical considerations: Teach children about the current laws and regulations surrounding ma*****na use in your jurisdiction. Emphasize that following the law and respecting the rules is essential.
Remember, it's important to strike a balance between educating children about facts and potential risks while discouraging them from using ma*****na at a young age.
