Professor Gagnon reporting for duty! I am teaching the AAC component of Assistive Technology in the Schools at the University of New England Biddeford campus. This will be mostly introductory info about AAC, how to feature match, and how to get funding, with lots of hands on demo as well. This is my second time teaching at UNE, and I am so happy to be back!

Thank you Dr. Chris Murphy and Southern Maine Orthodontics for inviting me to speak at Hygiene Night 2024! Articulation therapy targets the sounds of speech. You may benefit if you want to work on pronouncing certain letter sounds differently. Some examples of more challenging sounds that cause difficulty for many people are S, R, L, and SH, but any sound can be improved with practice!

Here, Megan is demonstrating an oral mech exam that we will do when we first meet you for your initial evaluation. We take a look at the structures of your tongue, teeth, palate, and throat to see if there is anything going on that is making it tough to get clear speech! Megan reports: “Overall symmetry is normal. But lingual muscles are a little weak!” And don’t worry, the tongue depressors are grape flavored 🍇

We have worked with people up to age 55 on their articulation! Age does not matter. If you want to finally fix a bothersome speech sound(s), reach out for more info!!
