Here are some routine ideas:

🥑 meal prepping
🏋️‍♂️ exercise
😴 consistent sleep schedule
📝 journaling
📚 reading or learning something new
🧘 meditation or prayer
🪴 gardening
🎸 listening to or playing music
📞 calling a friend or family member

Boundaries & Expectations are not the same.

Boundaries are what we tell people that we will or will not do in a given situation.

🔹”I will not co-sign on a loan for anyone.”
🔹”I do not answer calls after 10pm.”
🔹”I will not participate in political debates.”
🔹”I’ll excuse myself if folks are drinking alcohol.”

Expectations are what we ask for others to do or not to do in a given situation.

🔸”Do not curse at me or call me names.”
🔸”Do not use hateful, hurtful language around me.”
🔸”Do not drink alcohol when I’m present.”
🔸”Do not call me, as I prefer text messages.”

Boundaries and expectations are often confused for each other. However, they are both important and necessary for healthy relationships.

Expectations are often the areas in which we need to check in with ourselves to ask if they are reasonable and appropriate. Unrealistic expectations often damage relationships.

Celebrating 2 years of private practice. I’ve learned so much, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.
