Rachel Cover-Briggs, PhD - Clinical Psychologist Journey toward for a calmer, clearer, and more confident you with evidence-based psychotherapy I earned my Ph.D.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in CA and I provide psychotherapy and psychological evaluations in private practice. I specialize in helping people with PTSD/trauma and stressor-related disorders, anxiety disorders, and depression. I also provide couple/relationship therapy for couples in distress. I use evidence-based therapy tailored to the unique experiences, values, identities, and goals

of my clients. From culturally-informed, relational framework, I often fold specific cognitive-behavioral protocols into my work, including the following:

-Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD
-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
-Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills training
-CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I)
-Exposure Relaxation and Rescription Therapy (ERRT) for Trauma-Related Nightmares
-Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples

I graduated from Reed College with a BA in Psychology. Shortly after graduation, I began working at a community alcohol and drug treatment center where I became passionate about helping people recover from trauma and addiction. I earned my Master of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University where I performed research at the Anxiety Treatment Center at SDSU. At the University of California, San Diego's Health Services Research Center, my research focused on understanding and reducing stigma experienced by mental health-seeking consumers in San Diego County. in clinical psychology from Idaho State University in 2016. During my APA-accredited internship at the VA Puget Sound, I received focused training in evidence-based treatments for PTSD and substance use disorders. I also received training in neuropsychological assessment and advanced psychological testing. I began working at Kaiser Permanente in 2016 where I provided therapy, assessment, program outcomes research, and clinical supervision. I currently work full-time in my private practice.

Welcome to my psychology practice! I specialize in helping overthinkers and high achievers who struggle with chronic self-doubt and loneliness, including problems with anxiety/worry, depression, and PTSD/trauma. Using personalized, evidence-based psychotherapy, I help my clients work through their difficult pasts and deepest insecurities so they can more completely understand and accept themselves, connect with other people more authentically, and learn to navigate the rest of their lives with a greater sense of calm, clarity, and confidence.

I'm a psychologist with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. My passion is providing high-quality psychotherapy to adults struggling with unresolved trauma, anxiety, and depression/overwhelming emotions. From culturally-informed, relational framework, I use cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, often including such therapies as: CPT for PTSD; EMDR; Unified Protocol; Exposure Relaxation and Rescription Therapy for Nightmares (ERRT), and DBT skills training.
