I had the honor of joining this family with welcoming their beautiful baby boy Joshua earthside earlier this month. The strength and intuition that his mommy showed was truly breathtaking!

What a beautiful and comforting thought to know that you are being lifted by the ancestors before you?

You are never alone. You can build and pull from their strength.

It takes a village to raise a mother. Call in people both gone and here to lift you.

Doulas have to work so hard to get in that operating room.

Our clients need us there!
They are scared.
The room is cold. And they’re mostly naked.
Everyone is so covered up making it feel really impersonal.

💥The majority of our clients in there did not intend to give birth in the OR.

They have questions.
They need comfort.
They need the person they have been preparing with and who they trust.

❌Birthing people about to have their C-section, shouldn’t have to choose between their Doula and their partner (if they have one). This is their care team.

Even when their OB has given permission for their Doula to attend, it’s up to the anaesthesiologist to make that final call day of. It is a constant gamble.

It shouldn’t be.

Let trained and certified doulas in the OR when they’re requested by the birthing person. It’s their right! 💪🏽

Has anyone run into the problem of not being allowed in? Has anyone set something up with the hospital where they know you and always allow you in? Let’s talk about access.

The World Health Organization strongly advises that birthing people have a right to their companions of choice. They also highly recommend Doulas for all births. Soooo what’s the issue?!

Share widely! Write letters! Get your clients to report if they’re being denied their doulas in for their operative birth.

We increase birth satisfaction, regardless of type of birth ❤️
