Kennedy v. Braidwood is a challenge to the Affordable Care Act’s coverage mandate for HIV prevention medications. Without this coverage, millions of Americans would lose access to their PrEP medication due to the increased cost. PrEP coverage being rescinded would roll back the efforts to end the spread of HIV by decades.

Today, the Supreme Court made a landmark decision upholding the constitutionality of the PrEP medication mandate. This is a victory for the HIV prevention community and for all Americans who prioritize their health autonomy. We hope that this is the first of many decisions the Court will make to protect equitable access to healthcare in the United States.

But today, we celebrate the fact that a blatant attack on American health has been defeated.
