Before you panic-read that 👆 hear me out:

If you’re up at night worrying about whether you’re doing enough, if you’re questioning every decision, if you feel the weight of wanting to get it right — that means you care deeply. That’s what good parents do. 💛

Parenting feels heavy because you’re pouring your whole heart into it. The self-doubt, the second-guessing, the endless Googling at 3am? That’s not failure — that’s love in action.

So next time you feel like you’re “not enough,” remember: it’s hard because you’re a good parent.

✨ You don’t need to do it alone, either. That’s where doula support comes in — to help carry some of that weight so you can actually rest and feel like yourself again.

💬 New parents hear a lot of comments… and let’s be real, even the “well-meaning” ones can sting.

👉 “You should feel lucky.”
👉 “Just wait until…”
👉 “Are you getting any sleep yet?”

Sound familiar? 👀

Here’s the thing: words matter. When a parent is sleep-deprived, hormonal, and already questioning themselves, a simple comment can feel dismissive instead of supportive. That’s why I put together this carousel of things NOT to say — and what to say instead.

✨ Because new parents don’t need clichés. They need care, validation, and actual support.

👇 Comment below with the most supportive thing someone said to you in the newborn stage — let’s make this a bank of encouragement for every parent who scrolls by. 💛

And if you’re a new parent thinking, “I need more than kind words…” → that’s exactly what postpartum doulas are for. (Link in bio to book support 🌙)

So... What’s actually worth packing in your birth bag? ✨💼

Spoiler: it’s not half the Pinterest checklist. You don’t need 3 matching robes, 17 swaddles, and your Keurig. What you do need? The small comfort items that make a BIG difference in labor. 👇 Keep reading for some bonus must-haves, too.

🌀 Portable fan → Contractions = sweat city. This will feel like Beyoncé’s wind machine.
💄 Lip balm → Dry hospital air + hours of focused breathing = chapped lips. Pack it.
🔥 Heating pad → Your bestie for post-delivery cramps or back labor. Basically, a warm hug for your uterus.
🌿 Nausea relief → Hormones can stir up nausea quick. Peppermint or a nausea stick = lifesaver.
🧃 Coconut water → Hydration + electrolytes = actual birth fuel.
🖤 Hair ties → The unsung hero. Because labor with sweaty hair in your face? Absolutely not.

✨ BONUS BIRTH BAG ESSENTIALS ✨
🍫 Snacks → Because no one labors well on an empty stomach. Granola bars > hospital Jello (yeah, I said it).
🕯️ LED candles or fairy lights → Set the vibe. Harsh fluorescent lights? We don’t know her.
🎧 Earbuds → For hypnobirthing tracks, a calming meditation, or blasting Lizzo when you need a confidence boost.

👉 Think marathon vibes: these aren’t “extras,” they’re the comfort tools that keep you grounded, cared for, and supported while you do the most powerful work of your life.

💡 Save this list for your packing day, hit ❤️ if this gave you ideas for your birth bag, and tag/share with a pregnant friend who deserves the best birth experience.

And unfortunately, you can’t pack a doula in your birth bag…but having one by your side? Truly the most invaluable “essential” for birth. Hint hint. 😉✨

Early postpartum can feel like a blur—equal parts love, exhaustion, and figuring-it-all-out-as-you-go. 🍼💤

If you’ve been wondering whether a postpartum doula could help, here are some signs it might be the right support for you:

✨ Running on empty → Newborn life is exhausting. A doula can step in so you can nap, shower, or just breathe while knowing your baby is cared for.

✨ Feeding feels confusing → Breast/chestfeeding, bottle feeding, or both—no matter your plan, a doula can offer hands-on guidance, reassurance, and referrals if extra support is needed.

✨ Overwhelmed at home → When the dishes, laundry, and meals start piling up, we help lighten the load with meal prep and light housework so you can heal + bond.

✨ Needing emotional support → The newborn stage can feel isolating. A doula provides a calm, nonjudgmental presence and encouragement so you feel seen and supported (and also referrals to perinatal-specific mental health experts, if needed).

🌸 The truth is: you don’t have to do this alone and postpartum doula care may even be covered by your insurance.

👉 Send us a message today to see if you’re eligible—we’d love to help you feel more rested, confident, and supported.

✨ My 3 Feeding Journeys ✨

Today’s the last day of World Breast(chest)feeding Week, and I wanted to share a little piece of my heart. 💛

Baby #1: Breastfeeding was hard. I didn’t know how to latch, I saw lactation consultants multiple times, and I constantly felt like a failure. I didn’t have the support I needed—just “give a bottle” or “supplement with formula,” with no real encouragement to try different things. We made it to about 6–7 months before switching fully to formula.

Baby #2: Things started off better, but around 4 months he stopped transferring milk well and wasn’t gaining weight. Reflux, sleep struggles, stress, postpartum depression, anxiety—it was a storm. We tried triple feeding for a while, but my mental health was suffering. At 10 months, we switched to formula.

Baby #3: I went in with a new mindset—formula was always on the table if I became stressed or overwhelmed. I refused to punish myself or feel like a failure if breastfeeding didn’t work out. But this time, I had more knowledge as a doula, more tools to try, more support, and two prior experiences under my belt. We ended up breastfeeding for 20 months—longer than I ever imagined.

💬 Here’s the truth: breast(chest)feeding does not come easy for everyone. And that’s okay. I’m deeply passionate about supporting families through their feeding journeys—without judgment, no matter how long they last or what path they take.

🤱 Feeding your baby is never a failure—love, connection, and care are what matter most.

We are always here to provide a helping hand, supportive shoulder, or listening ear.

(And peep some of my favorite things my littles did while feeding - the hiding/hugging was the best - and swipe to the end for my favorite little shark video 😩 I miss it but I don’t 😅)

This client came to me after a traumatic first birth and a complicated second pregnancy. Her first message was titled “A Desperate Plea.”

She was navigating gestational diabetes, a subchorionic hemorrhage, and carrying the weight of past birth trauma.

She needed more than just support - she needed someone who got it.

Together, we built a birth plan centered around informed choices, advocacy, and her desire for an unmedicated birth.

When the day came, she labored with strength and intention. I supported her from just the right distance (her preference) - no touching just steady reminders to breathe and relax through the waves.

Her baby was born into her arms in the tub, and despite a brief scare, she remained grounded.

Later, when she looked back at the photos I had taken, she said:

“I was in pain, but I looked happy. I looked calm. I looked confident.”

That’s the power of having the right support. 💛
