🕯️ Funeral Fact Friday 🕯️

The idea of burying the deceased 6 feet deep began in the 1660s during the London plague, when officials believed deeper graves would help prevent the spread of disease.

Today, however, most states simply require at least 18 inches of soil above the casket—meaning most graves are only about 4 feet deep, not six.

As times and knowledge evolve, so do the traditions that shape how we honor those we’ve lost.
