Teamwork Tuesday!

Natalie is a licensed esthetician with a passion for enhancing natural beauty and promoting skin health. She specializes in eyelash extensions and also has a deep love for relaxing, results-driven facials. During esthetician school, she developed a strong appreciation for skin anatomy, which continues to guide her personalized approach to skincare.

Her goal in the beauty industry is to help clients address their skin concerns, relieve stress, achieve real results, and ultimately feel more confident. She strives to create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment that clients truly look forward to returning to.

Retinols are what we call a "non-negotiable". If you are over the age of 20, you should be on a retinoid. They are not created equally, so consult your skin professional or esthetician for advice.

Retinyl ester → Retinol → Retinaldehyde → Retinoic acid

Retinol. A great place for a beginner. Retinol is generally better tolerated, making it a good option for sensitive skin, or those wanting milder changes. Some retinols are over-the-counter but 90-95% less effective than retinoic acid.

Retinaldehyde is one step away from retinoic acid but less potent (80% less). Dr. Kismet's favorite and one she personally uses: Suzan Obagi MD Retivance Skin Rejuvenating Complex. It is luxurious and has antioxidants and shea butter for an amazing texture.

Retinoic Acid. The gold standard of retinoids is tretinoin! It does not need to be converted. We carry Obagi tretinoin gel and creams in multiple strengths. However, it can be hard to start off with this option.

Dr. Kismet recommends building up with a slower ramp up period or strength until your skin is acclimated. Once it is, don't stop! It's one of the most important things you can do for antiaging.
