🎂 August Birthdays = August Feasts! 🍽️ Last month’s birthday celebration at Eskaton Granite Bay was extra special, with residents designing their own menu! They enjoyed shrimp cocktail, steak, twice-baked potatoes, asparagus, and of course, chocolate cake. 🥩🍤🍫 At the end of the meal, team members gathered to sing Happy Birthday to celebrate each resident's birthday month. 🎉

Residents of Eskaton Village Roseville recently experienced a deeply relaxing Sound Therapy session led by Musician and Certified Sound Practitioner, Chelsea Callender. 🌿✨ Sound therapy—also known as vibrational sound therapy or sound healing—can help reduce stress, improve sleep, ease pain, spark creativity, and restore balance. We are so grateful to Chelsea for bringing this calming and restorative experience to our community. 💫🎶

As part of this month’s theme of exploring the Pacific Islands—including beautiful Hawaii—residents (and even a couple of team members!) enjoyed bringing their own sea turtles to life on canvas. 🌺✨

Residents were treated to a special hula dancing lesson from two very special guests — the wife and young daughter of our Executive Director, Alfredo Cruz. 💃Together, this dynamic duo from Manuia Polynesia Rocklin is teaching residents dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, and New Zealand as we prepare for our annual Luau on September 7th! 🌴🥥 We can’t wait to show off our new moves at the celebration — aloha spirit included! 🌺🎶

Outside of work, Bea is a full-time student who enjoys drawing and playing video games in her free time. We’re proud to celebrate her commitment, warmth, and the many ways she makes a difference for residents, families, and team members alike.

Our Hot August & Hot Rods event at Eskaton Village Grass Valley brought the perfect mix of nostalgia and fun! 🚗✨ Residents and guests enjoyed a dazzling parade of classic cars, delicious bites, and toe-tapping live music. Attendees cast their votes for their favorite rides, and we awarded first, second, and third place trophies to the winners. A big thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate summertime in style!

Aloha vibes all around! 🌺☀️ Eskaton Village Placerville's annual Luau brought sunshine, smiles, and the spirit of the islands to our community. Residents and staff enjoyed a mouthwatering Hawaiian feast, the sweet sounds of the ukulele, and an incredible hula dance performance. The best part? We all got to join in and learn the hula ourselves—turns out we’ve got some hidden talent right here at EVP! 🏝💃🪘

Residents and families of Eskaton Village Placerville recently channeled the vibrant spirit of Mexico with an Oaxacan-style Animal Pottery class! 🎨🐆 Residents hand-built whimsical animal sculptures from clay in the first session, then brought them to life in the second with bold, psychedelic colors inspired by this imaginative form of Mexican folk art. The result? A joyful gallery of one-of-a-kind creatures bursting with personality! 🌟🦜✨

This art class is part of our Creative Aging program, in partnership with the Crocker Art Museum Ar. Through this partnership, Eskaton residents can participate in various Creative Aging Art Courses throughout the year, providing immersive experiences inspired by current exhibits at the Crocker.

We went down the rabbit hole and into a whimsical wonderland at our Mad Hatter Tea Party! 🫖🎩 Residents and guests sipped on a variety of teas and nibbled on finger sandwiches, cookies, and other sweet treats—all inspired by the magic of Alice in Wonderland. Earlier this month, residents of Eskaton Gold River and Eskaton Land Park attended Manuia Polynesian R***e's 2025 Spring Recital, in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.

"From delicious island bites and local shopping to the vibrant performances featuring music and dances from the islands of Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, and New Zealand, our residents were treated to a rich cultural experience full of joy, color, and rhythm," said Alfredo Cruz, Executive Director of Eskaton Gold River. "It was especially meaningful for me to see two of my worlds come together — blending the warmth of community care with the spirit of Polynesian heritage."

Smiles, sunshine, and shared joy 🌞💛 Last Thursday, Eskaton Land Park held their annual Happiness Day. In memory of the late Margaret "Peggy" McDonald, Happiness Day is what Peggy referred to as the happiest day of her life; the day she moved into Eskaton. She found a family in the staff and residents, and loved to celebrate this special day with everyone.

Happiness Day was a day filled with laughter, gratitude, and the warmth of togetherness. With the help of the Eskaton Foundation, our Land Park community celebrates Happiness Day every year in memory of Peggy. We are incredibly thankful to Peggy for the many gifts she left us. As an advocate for health and wellness, Peggy's bequest has helped to fund our community's Fitness & Wellness Center and the Eskaton Foundation's Resident Assistance Fund. We're so grateful for Peggy's ongoing gifts and for giving everyone a reason to smile and be happy.
