Eskaton Village Placerville's Summer Bazaar was a success, raising just over $1,000 for the El Dorado County Animal Services - West Slope Shelter! ✨ Guests explored a variety of handmade goods, including a beautiful collection of paintings by our talented resident artist, Dauna Crum.

🎓🎉 Off to college they go! These team members from Eskaton Village Roseville are trading in their name badges for backpacks as they head off to college next month! To celebrate, Director of Culinary Experience Michelle Edmondson gave a heartfelt speech in front of fellow teammates and residents, followed by custom goodie bags to send them off in style. 🎨 Last week, our community got hands-on with culture and creativity during our very first Oaxacan Clay Class! As part of our Creative Aging program in partnership with the Crocker Art Museum, residents explored traditional techniques and expressed themselves through beautiful clay art in the form of animals. We were joined this morning by Molly Riehl from ‪Good Day Sacramento to chat about our Creative Aging partnership with Crocker Art Museum!

As a part of the Creative Aging program, Eskaton has been hosting art courses that are inspired by works from Crocker Art Museum. Residents have explored Expressive and Landscape Painting in the spring, and are now learning about Pottery.

To round out the program, Crocker Art Museum docents have been giving art education presentations at Eskaton communities, where they explore the back stories of works found at the Crocker, the artists, and even the techniques used.

Residents also have the opportunity to take a museum excursion to visit Crocker Art Museum in person!

🌟 Congratulations to our Employee of the Month from Eskaton Gold River – Rosan! Rosan continues to go above and beyond each day, bringing compassion, consistency, and clinical excellence to her role as a Resident Medication Assistant. A former doctor in the Philippines, Rosan’s medical background shines through in the exceptional care she provides to our residents.

As our Executive Director Alfredo Cruz (pictured left with Rosan) shared:
“Rosan is incredibly proactive and reliable; always quick to communicate with families and providers when a resident’s condition changes, ensuring timely care. She’s on top of med orders, follows up with doctors, and steps in for extra shifts without hesitation. She’s flexible, dependable, and brings a thoughtful presence to every shift change meeting, always coming prepared with updates and solutions. Families trust her, her team appreciates her, and she leads by example every single day."

We went down the rabbit hole and into a whimsical wonderland at our Mad Hatter Tea Party! 🫖🎩 Residents and guests sipped on a variety of teas and nibbled on finger sandwiches, cookies, and other sweet treats—all inspired by the magic of Alice in Wonderland. A truly tea-rific time was had by all! ☕🍪💐

Earlier this month, residents of Eskaton Gold River and Eskaton Land Park attended Manuia Polynesian R***e's 2025 Spring Recital, in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.

"From delicious island bites and local shopping to the vibrant performances featuring music and dances from the islands of Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, and New Zealand, our residents were treated to a rich cultural experience full of joy, color, and rhythm," said Alfredo Cruz, Executive Director of Eskaton Gold River. "It was especially meaningful for me to see two of my worlds come together — blending the warmth of community care with the spirit of Polynesian heritage."

Smiles, sunshine, and shared joy 🌞💛 Last Thursday, Eskaton Land Park held their annual Happiness Day. In memory of the late Margaret "Peggy" McDonald, Happiness Day is what Peggy referred to as the happiest day of her life; the day she moved into Eskaton. She found a family in the staff and residents, and loved to celebrate this special day with everyone.

Happiness Day was a day filled with laughter, gratitude, and the warmth of togetherness. With the help of the Eskaton Foundation, our Land Park community celebrates Happiness Day every year in memory of Peggy. We are incredibly thankful to Peggy for the many gifts she left us. As an advocate for health and wellness, Peggy's bequest has helped to fund our community's Fitness & Wellness Center and the Eskaton Foundation's Resident Assistance Fund. We're so grateful for Peggy's ongoing gifts and for giving everyone a reason to smile and be happy.
