Reviewing last year’s community survey results warms our hearts. 💗

Seeing how dance enriches your lives means the world to us. On the second slide, you’ll find two of the conclusions from the survey. Beyond these, we also explored community safety, hopes for 2026, and common identities within our community, including sobriety and participation in other dance styles.

Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey, it was incredibly helpful! We dance on Friday, hope to see you there!

When the world feels overwhelming, when you witness and hear distressing news and stories daily, regulation isn't what you need. It's expression.

Dysregulation is the appropriate response to what many of us are witnessing. And although regulating practices have their place, expression is the key thing to help us continue onward. Now is the time to feel it all, and let it out.

Ready to dance it out? Our next dance is Friday the 27th with Jesse Klein, see the pinned post for the details!

Sarah from Mind Body Reeducation will be providing massages at our next dance!

Sarah is a certified Massage Therapist and the founder of Mindbody Reeducation. Based on J Street in Sacramento, her approach to bodywork is intentional, heart-centered, and grounded in the belief that the body holds deep wisdom. She supports clients by encouraging them to slow down and tune in, helping them reconnect with themselves through thoughtful touch and nervous system regulation. Her work blends Eastern and Western modalities and techniques, mindfulness, and a deep respect for the body’s natural rhythms. She’s also a lover of dance and looks forward to moving with everyone on the dance floor!

Payment options are offered on a donation-based sliding scale starting at $15 for 10 minutes. Accepted payment methods include Venmo, Cash, Apple Pay, or Tap to Pay.

If you didn't get to experience her massage last dance, make sure to try it this time!

Americans are drinking less than ever: only 54% of adults report consuming alcohol, the lowest in 90 years according to Gallup.

The real high? Dancing (sober).

Ecstatic Dance lets you move freely around fully present people, no booze or substances allowed. Studies show dance triggers massive endorphin releases, slashing stress hormones like cortisol for true bliss and emotional release. This means you wake up energized, clear-headed, buzzing from connection and movement.

Ready to explore dance in a new way? Check out our next dance here in Sacramento on Feb 27th. See the pinned post for more info!

Expressing energy is one of the many reasons dance is so wonderful!

Selysa from the Sacramento Reiki Center shared this tip recently on how to help move energy through dance. Selysa shares a lot about reiki, energy work, and self expression, as outside of ecstatic dance she does other performing arts too. Expression and movement of stagnant energy can be encouraged in so many different ways!

Who plans on trying this at their next dance?

We’re excited to start our next dance with Movement Exploration, guided by Jeremy.

Jeremy is a movement artist who has studied different “dialects” of dance from formal, spiritual, and social modalities. He finds value in both structural and free-flowing expression. His journey through different genres and industries grounded him into the universal language of dance.

In this opening activity, we will expand the depth of our movement to assist our flow state. By elevating our movement “language”, we’ll expand our bandwidth to channel the music through our vessel. We will explore nuances of movement both internally and externally. We’ll witness how these nuances alter the manifestations of our dance individually and collectively. This will include variations in muscle tension, energy exchange, intention, pathways, physiological states, and spiritual reference points.

Come early to drop in, tune in, and explore what’s possible when you learn to move in new ways. Doors open at 7:20 pm, for a 7:30 pm start.

We are Ecstatic Dance Midtown-Sacramento!

Ecstatic Dance Midtown-Sacramento is a DJ led community dance gathering. It is an alcohol free, family friendly event. Leave shoes and conversations at the door. We believe that movement is medicine and this is why we create non-verbal spaces. Silence allows the attention to drop out of the mind and into the depth of the body where alchemy resides.

ECSTATIC DANCE MIDTOWN-SACRAMENTO GUIDELINES: VERBAL & NON-VERBAL SPACES:

We’ve created one VERBAL and one NON-VERBAL space for you to engage with your ecstatic dance experience.

VERBAL SPACE: The social lounge area is the space you first walk into that has been created for you to enjoy and experience verbal conversations and connections.
