The 2026 Whole System Care Conference proudly welcomes Dolores Huerta as our keynote speaker! 💙

As a trailblazer for equity, justice, and social change, Dolores Huerta’s impact spans generations, and we are honored to have her headline one of California’s most anticipated behavioral health conferences of the year. 👏

This morning, CAC and Neurocrine Biosciences hosted our virtual session on Elevating awareness of Tardive Dyskinesia in behavioral health care. This webinar brought together clinicians, behavioral health leaders, community caregivers, and patient advocates to deepen understanding of TD and emphasize the importance of routine screening and early identification. Through a multidisciplinary discussion, attendees explored the clinical impact of TD, barriers to screening, and opportunities to strengthen monitoring practices across care settings. Thank you to our expert speakers for their insight, and everyone who joined us.

🗓️ May 3–9, 2026 is Tardive Dyskinesia Awareness Week

Tardive Dyskinesia is an often‑misunderstood involuntary movement disorder that can develop after long‑term use of certain mental health medications. Because TD can significantly affect daily life, awareness, early identification, and compassionate support are essential.

CAC remains committed to promoting dignity, equity, and whole‑person wellness for individuals living with TD and other behavioral health conditions.

This week marks the start of Tardive Dyskinesia (TD) Awareness Week—a time to raise awareness, promote early screening, and support those impacted.

TD is a serious and often underdiagnosed condition linked to long-term antipsychotic use, affecting an estimated 800,000 adults in the U.S.—with many still undiagnosed. Early detection and access to care are critical.

Thank you to Senator Catherine Blakespear for leading SCR 103, officially recognizing TD Awareness Week in California and underscoring the importance of early intervention and education.

We also thank Neurocrine Biosciences for recognizing Dr. Le Ondra Clark Harvey for her continued leadership and dedication to improving patient access to care.

We appreciate the leadership behind this effort to reduce delays in care for Californians who need timely treatment. We also extend our thanks to Dr. Jacques Ambrose, Chief Medical Officer at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists for joining us and sharing his clinical expertise.

AB 1970 has passed out of the Assembly Health Committee, and we remain committed to advancing policies that strengthen access to behavioral health care across the state.
