Congratulations to our amazing staff who recently celebrated milestone anniversaries at Shriners Children's Northern California! ๐Ÿ™Œ
We had 80 employees celebrating anniversaries between 5 and 35 years, which, altogether, totalled 765 years of providing the Most Amazing Care Anywhere to children with burns, orthopedic or musculoskeletal conditions, sports medicine injuries and conditions requiring pediatric inpatient rehabilitation. Idalia Gamez, a patient care assistant in our pediatric ICU, had the longest tenure of 35 years! Idalia followed Shriners Children's from its original location in San Francisco and was here to open the Sacramento hospital in 1997. In the time she's worked here, Idalia, considered our wound care expert, has trained every ICU staff member in burn wound care.
Thank you to Idalia and all our staff celebrating milestone anniversaries for providing the Most Amazing Care Anywhere!

Shriners Children's Northern California is pleased to celebrate Doctors' Day! March 30 is a special opportunity to thank these clinicians who provide the expert care to our patients every day. Our doctors have unmatched expertise in caring for children who've experienced burns, orthopedic conditions, sports injuries or have musculoskeletal conditions like spina bifida and cerebral palsy. Our doctors are the best at what they do and they continue to share their knowledge as they provide educational opportunities for other healthcare professionals.

To celebrate, we asked some of our amazing patients to share their thoughts about our doctors who provide the most amazing care anywhere!

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate the opening of our first off-site clinic. Expanding pediatric orthopedic and sports medicine care into the foothills community is an exciting milestone for our hospital and, most importantly, for the children and families we serve.

Our orthopedic program is dedicated to providing specialized, compassionate care for growing bodies. From sports injuries to complex musculoskeletal conditions, Shriners Children's helps get kids back to doing what they love.

๐Ÿ“ Now welcoming patients in Folsom! Learn more about our orthopedic and sports medicine services or schedule an appointment at the link in our bio.

A special thank you to the Folsom Chamber of Commerce and the Folsom City Council for helping us mark this important moment. We are honored to serve children and families closer to home.
Hereโ€™s to continued partnership, healing, and healthy futures in our community. ๐Ÿ’™

Michael has been receiving care at Shriners Children's Northern California since he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 18 months old. ๐Ÿ’š
Now in high school, Michael plays wheelchair basketball, moves around independently and is an active Patient Ambassador for our hospital. The photos in this post show him at some of our recent events, where he speaks about his experience as a patient and the impact Shriners Children's has made on his life.
This Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, we're thankful patients like Michael who defy the odds and remind us why we do what we do!

Happy Good Nutrition Month! ๐Ÿฅ—
We had another successful Healthy Food Expo! ๐ŸŽ‰
Over 150 staff had the chance to sample delicious, nutritious options from 6 local food vendors, who loved sharing their latest offerings with us. ๐Ÿ˜‹
Our Registered Dietitians were on hand to answer nutrition questions with a fun activity showcasing just how much sugar is in our food. Plus, we gathered great feedback on new items to bring to our cafe! ๐ŸŽ

Happy Good Nutrition Month! ๐ŸŽ
Good nutrition is important to everyone, including our patients who have trouble swallowing due to illness or injury. Our dietitians held a preparation for a Chopped-style competition for our nutrition staff to create meals for patients who are on modified texture diets! ๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ
The menu included mac and cheese, chicken breast, burger patties, mashed potatoes, broccoli and carrots with banana pudding, pears, and applesauce for dessert! ๐Ÿ˜‹
Our speech therapists were the judges for this competition to ensure good taste and proper texture. This was a fun way to increase our team's skills in this area, especially as our inpatient rehabilitation program continues to see patients requiring these services. ๐Ÿ’

Today is Certified Nurses Day, and we are celebrating the incredible nurses who choose to go above and beyond. ๐ŸŒŸ
For a nurse, earning a specialty certification means dedicating countless hours to deepening their clinical knowledge. These credentials are voluntary, but the impact they have is essential. It shows up in critical moments: guiding complex decisions, recognizing subtle changes, and helping families navigate difficult journeys. ๐Ÿซ€
At Shriners Children's Northern California, we are fortunate to have nearly 50 certified nurses! From burns, critical care, informatics and leadership, their expertise raises the bar for all of us. ๐Ÿ™Œ
To our certified nurses: Thank you for your dedication, your compassion, and for bringing an added depth of knowledge to the bedside every single day. ๐Ÿ’
