Dr. Ly brings smiles wherever he goes—especially when volunteering at St. Raphael Dental Clinic. 💙

This time, we had some of the most complicated oral surgery cases. One 24-year-old patient was trembling with fear and literally sweating like he had just stepped out of the shower. His appointment had been canceled the day before because the previous dentist couldn’t get him numb.

Dr. Ly was able to calm him down, numb him comfortably, and remove both a molar and a wisdom tooth! 🙌 The patient wanted to hug Dr. Ly afterward, but Dr. Ly gave him a high five instead… because he was way too sweaty 😂

Other fun facts:
• Out of the 19 teeth pulled that day, at least 5 required full bony removal—meaning bone had to be removed all the way to the root tip to safely extract them.
• One patient was also extremely difficult to numb until Dr. Ly drilled to the root tip and delivered a direct injection at the infection site.

👉One definitely wouldn’t have the patience for all this unless he/she truly loves dentistry! 😆❤️

One of the cutest, bravest, and most cooperative pediatric patients ever! 🦷✨ Her parents had prepared her ahead of time and told her she’d be coming to see Dr. Ly—and she was actually excited for her visit!

With Dr. Ly’s expertise and patience, along with an amazing little patient, the procedure went smoothly and comfortably. The patient had three missing teeth and paid out of pocket for a six-unit bridge completed by another dentist two years ago. Unfortunately, she was never happy with the outcome.

She shared, “I never smiled ever since I got these teeth. My husband even said I looked more horrible than before. I have not taken any photo since!”

The original bridge was too short in length, which caused her smile to appear as if she was frowning. The canines were overly prominent and long, and the bridge followed an inverted U shape. As a result, her upper teeth were not visible when she smiled.

After completing a remake of the bridge, the difference was dramatic. Her smile now has a beautiful, natural U shape, and her upper teeth are clearly visible when she smiles. The lighter shade also helped create a brighter, more youthful appearance.

Seeing her confidence returned and knowing she is finally happy with her smile is incredibly rewarding. There is nothing more fulfilling than giving a patient their smile back! 😊
