Please don’t try to fix me. Don’t take on my pain or push away my shadows. Just sit beside me as I work through my own inner storms. Be the steady hand I can reach for as I find my way.
My pain is mine to carry, my battles mine to face. But your presence reminds me I’m not alone in this vast, sometimes frightening world. It’s a quiet reminder that I am worthy of love, even when I feel broken.
So, in those dark hours when I lose my way, will you just be here? Not as a rescuer, but as a companion. Hold my hand until the dawn arrives, helping me remember my strength.

At 61, she’s staying at our North A Street Shelter, after a lifetime of instability and homelessness that began in high school. While the struggle is familiar, the resources and support here are new.

Years of instability have taken a toll on her health, but thanks to our partnership with Life Practice Counseling Group, she’s working with our on-site therapist. She’s also receiving care from Willow Clinic, a free medical service run by UC Davis students that serves unsheltered individuals in the River District every Saturday.

Now, as she begins caring for herself, she’s finding the strength to heal and move toward ending her homelessness for good. She shares, “This is a good place.”

We are closed next week for the 4th of July (6/30/24-7/6/24). We close 5 weeks during the year so our therapists can take care of their mental health and spend time with loved ones to recharge and be the best possible therapists for our clients ♥️
