Their team regularly brings such joy, energy, and meaningful connection to our community, and this week’s mocktail social was no exception. Moments like these remind us how special it is to work alongside partners who truly care about the seniors we serve.
American River Healthcare provides hospice, home health, in-home care, and visiting provider services, and we are thankful for the compassionate support they bring not only to Golden Pond, but to families throughout our community.

We recently put together this beautiful display celebrating the love stories of our residents—weddings, anniversaries, beach days, young love, lifelong love… all of it. And let me tell you, it stops people in their tracks. 🥹
If you have old photos you’d like to share, we would love to include them. Bring them by and give them to Heather, and we’ll make a copy and add them to our wall of love (your originals will be returned, promise!).

Don’t judge a resident by their door…
Just like you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, you definitely shouldn’t judge a resident by theirs.
Take Robert — a lovable but stoic veteran who surprises everyone with the bright, colorful artwork covering his door. He recently discovered a love for coloring, and now his door is one of the happiest, most vibrant spots in the hallway. (Yes, that is a little wiener dog in the mix.)
You’ll also spot his proudly displayed certificate from winning our Halloween Door Decorating Contest earlier this year — and he earned every bit of it.
A good reminder that behind every door is a story, a spark, and sometimes… a very creative veteran.

Some moments just stop you in your tracks. đź’›
Yesterday, our newest resident, Kiyoko, moved into Golden Pond. It’s been a hard season for her — the loss of her husband, an injury at home, and the big transition of leaving the place she’s known for so many years.
But then… something magical happened.
As we were getting her settled, she discovered that her longtime friend Millie lives here too. Their husbands worked together at the Army Depot, and Kiyoko spent many years working there herself. It took a minute for the memory to click — but when it did, her whole face lit up.
Two widowed friends, reconnecting after years apart… and then wandering off to an activity together as if no time had passed at all.
It was one of those “hard not to cry” moments that reminds us why community matters so much. 💛
