Iā€™m not okay with white supremacy in my field, and I know itā€™s wayyyy more entrenched than just the exams.
But, letā€™s start with the exams- whatā€™s the solution? Should we throw the exams out?
Should we lower the amount of hours needed before licensure, and therefore lower the amount of unpaid and low-paid labor? I think going from calling pre-licensed folks ā€œinternsā€ to ā€œassociatesā€ was a good move.
Should we offer temporary licenses to people waiting to take the exam?
Should we offer accommodations to examinees of color?
Should we revamp the entire exam with input from people of color and data on implicit bias in exams?

These are beliefs, not facts.
But, itā€™s very easy for us to accept them as truths.
They are based on our experiences, so they feel so deeply true. And yet, they are the result of stuck and unprocessed trauma. These beliefs can shift as your trauma gets reprocessed.
EMDR, IFS and somatic therapies are all excellent approaches to
shifting these types of beliefs that are rooted in deep shame.

Americans generally suck at break-ups and donā€™t know how to transition the relationship from romantic to friendly. So often people decide their ex is now an enemy. I hope we can start to have more nuanced conversations about why a relationship ends. And, I hope we can start to admit our feelings are hurt instead of needing to cut off.

I know your nervous system is probably feeling horrendous now. Iā€™m not glossing over that. Maybe we can remember we are together, and all sharing feelings this month. Community is medicine.
At the same time that I am saying Happy Pride šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ, Iā€™m also remembering Gaza is starving šŸ‡µšŸ‡ø
All of these things are true at once
