This class is taught by Senior Chief Petty Officer Jim “Doc” Amentler, an honorably retired and decorated U.S. Navy Corpsman with 22+ years of military medical. Doc Amentler served as:

🔹 Medical Department Head for a Coastal Riverine Squadron
🔹 Medical Chief for both a Marine Corps and Seabee Battalion
🔹 Instructor for TCCC, CLS, BLS, and Wilderness First Aid
🔹 NEC 9502-certified Navy Instructor

Since retiring from the military, I’ve felt a deep void.

For 22 years, I was part of something greater than myself—a mission, a purpose. When I left, that sense of belonging and impact vanished overnight.

But last week, something happened that reminded me what purpose feels like.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve volunteered to teach Stop the Bleed to high school students in a local school district’s medical pathway program. I love teaching, it’s one of my true passions.

While walking through the hospital last week, one of our student volunteers stopped me. He asked, “Are you the one who taught my class last year?” After I said yes, he told me the class made a huge impression on him, and it inspired him to explore a career in medicine.

That moment hit hard.

That’s why we teach,
That’s why we volunteer,
That’s why we give back.

Sometimes, all it takes is one class, one conversation, one moment to spark something in someone else.

If you have knowledge, share it.
If you have time, give it.
If you have wisdom, pass it on.

Our kids need mentors. They need guidance. They need someone to believe in them.

Be that person. It matters more than you know.
