Dairy Council of California

Dairy Council of California We believe healthy eating patterns should emphasize whole, minimally processed foods and include a variety of nutritious foods from all five food groups.

Dairy Council of California is a nutrition organization working together with champions to elevate the health of children and communities through lifelong healthy eating habits. At Dairy Council of California and HealthyEating.org, we support the health of children and families by working with stakeholders to teach nutrition education and support food access programs. We encourage positivity and empowering individuals to make realistic and healthier food choices to support health, and enjoy meals with family and friends whenever possible. We also believe that milk and dairy foods are an irreplaceable part of daily, healthy eating patterns. Dairy Council of California’s team of registered dietitian nutritionists development all nutrition curriculum and resources using the latest in nutrition, education and behavior change science and theory.

American Heart Month brings attention to how balanced eating patterns support long-term well-being.

Research suggests dairy foods, including milk, yogurt and cheese at a range of fat levels, may have protective or neutral effects on cardiometabolic health when part of balanced dietary patterns. Dairy foods also provide high-quality protein and essential nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D and potassium that work together to support overall health.

Pasture Raised Kids - Farm School, a nonprofit organization and recipient of Dairy Council of California’s Let’s Eat Healthy Community Grant, brought nutrition education to life for children ages 4–12, connecting farm to community through engaging, hands-on learning experiences focused on dairy nutrition and sustainable farming.

More than 225 community members participated in a community event featuring an interactive dairy barn experience, local cheese tastings with flavor reflection, butter-making activities and a “local foods” map-and-match game highlighting area farmers, including Hale Dairy, through farmer profiles and videos.

We’re proud to support partners bringing nutrition education to life through hands-on learning experiences.

That’s a wrap on World Ag Expo! 🐄✨

A big thank you to our Mobile Dairy Classroom instructors, who truly did the heavy lifting — from setting up and tearing down our booth to connecting with visitors throughout the three-day show.

Our Dairy Council of California team, including CEO, Amy DeLisio, enjoyed meaningful in-person conversations with board members and partners. It was also great to share a booth space and connect with the California Milk Advisory Board. We’re excited to keep the momentum going at the California Dairy Sustainability Summit next month!

Cultivating Healthy Habits: Nutrition Education in Action 🥛

Arts in Action Community Charter School teamed up with Schools in Action to bring nutrition education to life with support from a Dairy Council of California Let’s Eat Healthy Community Grant.

Students and families explored dairy-focused classroom resources, enjoyed bimonthly taste tests with culturally relevant recipes, and celebrated World School Milk Day and National Dairy Month together. These hands-on activities made learning about food fun, engaging, and meaningful.

We love seeing partnerships that help build healthy habits in school communities!

At Dairy Council of California and HealthyEating.org we elevate the health of children and families through the pursuit of lifelong healthy eating habits. Funded by California's dairy farm families and local milk processors, Dairy Council of California's science-based nutrition education resources, Mobile Dairy Classroom assemblies, training programs and online tools reach millions in California and throughout the United States. We believe in healthy eating patterns with a variety of foods from all the food groups, and that milk and dairy foods like yogurt and cheese are essential to healthy eating patterns.
