CANP is composed of advanced practice registered nurses licensed to provide healthcare independently, held to the same legal and ethical standard of care as physicians, with a commitment to giving personalized, quality health care to all. CANP promotes a strong nurse practitioner movement though a statewide commu
nication system. CANP also strengthens the public image of the Nurse Practitioner along with supporting legislative action that encourages the development of the nurse practitioner role, while making the healthcare system more responsive to the needs of the consumer. CANP suppports the establishment and permanence of policies and programs that provide primary and preventive health care for all Californians. As well as supports the intimate involvement of nurse practitioners in these policies ad programs and the inclusion and utilization of nurse practitioners in the provision of primary and preventive health care services for all Californians. CANP supports the authority and capacity of nurse practitioners to function as professional and independent health care providers with full recognition of their expertise and central concern for access to health care for all Californians.
