Day 27 of Mental Health Awareness Month:

Many people become so focused on getting through work, school, responsibilities, or daily stress that they stop checking in with how they are actually feeling mentally and emotionally.
Mental health challenges do not always appear suddenly, sometimes they build gradually through emotional exhaustion, chronic stress, burnout, disrupted sleep, isolation, or feeling mentally overwhelmed for long periods of time.

Taking a moment to honestly reflect on how you have been feeling is not selfish or dramatic, it is an important part of recognizing when additional support, rest, or care may be needed.

At Eagle View Psychiatry, we believe mental health care starts with creating space for honest conversations and self-awareness. Our providers work to help patients better understand what they are experiencing and explore supportive treatment options that fit their individual needs and goals!

Day 26 of Mental Health Awareness Month:
Many people wonder about the difference between therapy and psychiatry, and the reality is that both can play important roles in mental health care!

Therapy often focuses on processing emotions, developing coping skills, understanding behavior patterns, and building long-term emotional support strategies. Psychiatry focuses more on evaluating symptoms, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management when appropriate.

These approaches are not meant to compete with one another, and in many cases, they work best together as part of a collaborative and individualized treatment plan.

At Eagle View Psychiatry, our providers work closely with patients to better understand their needs, symptoms, and goals while also helping connect individuals with trusted local therapists and psychological support resources when appropriate. We believe mental health care should feel collaborative and supportive!

Day 23 of Mental Health Awareness Month:

Starting psychiatric care for the first time can feel unfamiliar or even overwhelming, especially if you do not know what to expect.

A first psychiatric appointment is designed to help providers better understand what you are experiencing emotionally, mentally, and physically, so they can begin building an individualized treatment plan that fits your needs and goals.

These conversations may include discussing symptoms, stressors, sleep, mood, past treatment experiences, and areas where you feel you need additional support. There is no expectation to have everything perfectly explained or figured out before reaching out for help.

At Eagle View Psychiatry, we understand that reaching out for psychiatric support for the first time can feel vulnerable and uncertain. Our providers aim to make the process feel approachable and supportive by helping patients better understand their symptoms, explore treatment options, and feel more confident navigating their mental health journey!

Day 22 of Mental Health Awareness Month:

Supporting someone struggling with their mental health can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you are unsure what to say or do. The reality is that support does not require having all the answers. Often, simply listening, showing patience, and being present can make a meaningful difference.

Mental health challenges can feel isolating, which is why compassionate support systems matter so much. Encouraging professional help, checking in consistently, and creating space for honest conversations can help individuals feel safer and more supported during difficult moments.

At Eagle View Psychiatry, we believe mental health care works best when individuals feel supported not only clinically, but also emotionally and socially!

Day 21 of Mental Health Awareness Month:

Today’s Mental Health Spotlight is on the connection between substance use and mental health.

Mental health conditions and substance use challenges often overlap. Many individuals may turn to substances while trying to cope with anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, or emotional pain. But over time, substance use can also worsen mental health symptoms and make emotional regulation more difficult.
Because these experiences are deeply interconnected, compassionate and individualized support is incredibly important. Stigma and shame often prevent people from reaching out, but no one should feel like they have to navigate these challenges alone.

At Eagle View Psychiatry, our providers have experience supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance-related concerns! And we are well connected with local detox and rehabilitation centers that we can refer patients out to!

Day 20 of Mental Health Awareness Month

Today’s Mental Health Spotlight is on Maternal Mental Health.
Pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and the transition into parenthood can bring significant emotional, hormonal, physical, and psychological changes. While many people expect these experiences to feel joyful all the time, maternal mental health challenges are both common and treatable.

Symptoms such as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, persistent sadness, intrusive thoughts, irritability, or difficulty adjusting should never be dismissed or minimized. Support and early intervention can make a meaningful difference.

At Eagle View Psychiatry, our providers have experience helping individuals navigate maternal mental health concerns through personalized psychiatric care, medication management when appropriate, and coordinated referrals for additional therapy and psychological support when needed!

Today’s Mental Health Spotlight is on Bipolar Disorder.

Bipolar disorder is a complex mental health condition involving shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and functioning that go beyond typical emotional ups and downs. These changes can affect relationships, work, sleep, decision-making, and overall daily life.

Symptoms can look very different from one individual to another, which is why accurate evaluation and individualized treatment are so important.

At Eagle View Psychiatry, our providers have experience helping individuals navigate bipolar disorder through personalized psychiatric care and medication management. We also offer long-acting antipsychotic injectables as an additional treatment option for some individuals with bipolar disorder to help support symptom stability and treatment consistency!

Day 17 of Mental Health Awareness Month:

Today’s Mental Health Spotlight is on PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).

PTSD is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. While many people associate PTSD only with flashbacks or combat-related trauma, it can affect individuals in many different ways and stem from a wide range of experiences.

Symptoms may include hypervigilance, sleep difficulties, emotional numbness, intrusive memories, anxiety, or avoidance behaviors that interfere with daily life and relationships.

At Eagle View Psychiatry, our providers have extensive experience helping patients navigate PTSD and trauma-related symptoms through personalized psychiatric care and medication management. We have worked with individuals from many different backgrounds and experiences, including veterans, survivors of abuse, and others who have experienced trauma in many different forms.

We also understand that healing often involves a team approach, and we are happy to help connect patients with trusted therapists and psychological support resources for ongoing trauma-informed care.

Day 16 of Mental Health Awareness Month:

Today’s Mental Health Spotlight is on OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder).

OCD is often misunderstood and reduced to stereotypes about cleanliness or organization, but in reality, it is a complex mental health condition involving intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions) that can significantly impact daily life.

These symptoms are not simply habits or preferences. They can create intense anxiety, distress, and emotional exhaustion for individuals experiencing them.

The good news is that OCD is treatable, and support is available. At Eagle View Psychiatry, our providers are trained and experienced in helping individuals manage OCD through personalized medication plans. For more advanced or treatment-resistant cases, we also offer in-office Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation as part of a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan!
