Dear IMPaX Family,
Christmas is a season of joy and hopeful expectation, so experiencing a loss during this time always seems even more difficult.
It is with the most profound sadness I share with you that we have lost a very dear friend—Cary Nosler.
I am heartbroken.
In September, Stella and I spent a wonderful day with Cary in Pasadena just before he left for his Thailand adventure. We were stunned when we learned of his sudden passing on Sunday, December 17. It is a personal blow I cannot quite describe, but it is lessened somewhat by the knowledge that my friend—this healthy, vibrant, caring man—was spending time with his son, Gavin, and his family on the island of Koh Chang.
His son wrote about his father, “He led an extraordinary life, positively influencing countless numbers of people through education and entertainment. He was a devoted father and a loving grandfather. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.”
Cary will forever be part of the fabric of the IMPaX World family, and I am forever enriched by my friendship with him. He is survived by his three sons, Reese, Gavin, and Aaron; his former wife and dear friend, Laura; his daughter-in-law, Jutamas; and his three grandchildren, Taylor, Lily, and Noah.
Though it is personal, I wanted to share a screenshot of my last text message exchange with my friend. As you go about your holiday season, cherishing the loved ones who are near and remembering those who are with us no more, say a prayer for Cary’s family.
Cary—
We will miss you greatly. Your wisdom and wit, your incredible way of making health research understandable and accessible, your example of healthy living, your positive attitude, and the way you cared about your fellow man.
Rest in God’s everlasting peace, friend.
There will be a memorial service in Sacramento for Cary several weeks from now. We will share the details when they are known.
Remembering all my friends today,
Greg
