Lastly, I want to talk about this event right here. IDEA WORLD 2025. I've been in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years, and I've been coming to this event for almost as long. I know there's many of you in the crowd that have been coming for longer.

The most important part of this event isn't just continuing education or the amazing expo, a rockin’ dance party we're about to break into. It's YOU, the people, the attendees, the presenters, the volunteers, and staff. Thw himan ellememt connecting on a human level. Live, in person, hands-on, being able to connect with one another between sessions, at the socials or networking events. The people I've met at these events have shaped me into who I am today.

and the TD mastermind, Team Spark, and all the Durkinites around the U.S.

and .co as well as the Results Univeruty members and other Cosgrovians.

And countless others from presenters to attendees who touched my heart or taught me skills, concepts, and methods in training or business - things that I still use to this day.

Knowing several past recipients of this reward, It's beyond an honor to win THIS award, At THIS event, IDEA WORLD, my favorite event every year, in MY home town of Sacramento, California. 

I want to congratulate my fellow nominees, Brian, Rocky, and Stephen. Not only are they some of the best at what they do, but I've also learned from them over the years, shared the stage with them, and even presented nationally and internationally with them. Congratulations, and it's truly an honor to be nominated along with you all.

I want to thank IDEA Heath and Fitness Association. Amy, Steffi, the Davis' and the entire IDEA team both past and present. IDEA has been a part of my journey from attendee to presenter to international presenter to award nominee- and now award winner. Thank you for tonight, but also, being a huge part of my journey that led me to tonight.

To my parents, Cathy and Ron, my extended parents and extended family. Thank you for leading by example my entire life, through hard work, community service, and serving others, while also putting up with and raising this very hyperactive child. I love you all!

Thank you to my thousands of clients over the years, and to my Team at Varimax Fitness right here in Sacramento - Curtis, Angie, Delaney, Cheri, and Chris, and MOST importantly my better half, Samantha. She is the Executive Director of my business, and the GM of my personal life. Samantha helps run the day to day tasks of business and my life to allow me to do what I enjoy most, train trainers and train clients. Thank you for everything you do and understanding the chaos that is our lives, I wouldn't go through this battle with anyone but you. I love you.

As most of you already know, this has been a whirlwind of a week that I am just now having a chance to sit and reflect.

IDEA World 2025 came and went in a flash. The event started with me winning what I would consider the most prestigious award in my career, the 2025 IDEA Personal Trainer of the year.

Per the IDEA website, The IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year Award is honors a certified personal trainer who trains clients one-on-one at least 15 hours each week, and whose exceptional leadership, business management and instructional skills motivate and inspire clients to greater personal growth and a higher level of fitness.

The rest of the weekend involved presenting three topics over two days to dozens of fitness professionals. I attended several other sessions, as I will always be a student of my craft. Most importantly, I connected with so many of my friends and colleagues, and made new connections from around the globe.

Unfortunately I didn't take as many photos as I wanted. I tried to stay present in the moment, so thank you to Mike Sato, and anyone who was able to take photos with me throughout the week.

I LOVE WHAT I DO, AND I LOVE THIS INDUSTRY.

Thank you all for the kind remarks and congratulations. My focus to help people be happier and healthier has never been higher!

I am beyond honored and excited to be selected as one of the four finalists for the IDEA personal trainer of the year.

It's hard to put into words what this means for many reasons.

IDEA WORLD! this has become my FAVORITE event to both attend and present at. The SUPERBOWL of fitness!!
The IDEA team has been tremendously supportive and has amazing educational and self development opportunities for trainers and business owners. I've made lifelong friends and mentors at these events, and now feel honored o can pass that feeling along to others.
