Thanks to a MedStudentsServe grant, California Northstate University medical students brought free, compassionate vision care directly to people who needed it most. From prescription glasses and eye exams to medications, Medi-Cal support, and referrals for ongoing treatment. They sat with patients who hadn’t seen a doctor in decades. They helped unhoused neighbors choose their first pair of glasses in years. They supported BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, immigrant, and refugee families who have long faced barriers to care. ✨

Applications for MedStudentsServe are now open at phcdocs.org/medstudentsserve. If you're a medical student with a project that lifts up your community, this is your moment. Apply for up to $2,500 and turn your idea into impact. Your compassion can change lives, and it starts with one project.

🎉 PHC Announces $85 Million Investment to Expand California’s Physician Workforce 🎉

PHC is proud to announce $85 million in CalMedForce and CalMedForce+ awards to expand graduate medical education (supporting 270 residency and fellowship positions at 231 GME programs in this funding cycle).

For the first time ever, all medical specialties were eligible for funding, reflecting the growing demand for physicians as California faces a projected shortfall of 4,100 primary care clinicians by 2030.
This is also the inaugural year of CalMedForce+, funded through voter-approved Proposition 35, alongside continued support from Proposition 56. Together, these programs are directing vital resources to California’s most medically underserved communities and strengthening the future of patient care statewide.

During our recent site visit to USC LAC+USC MEDCEN Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program, we met the dedicated teams and residents transforming care for adolescents at Wilson High School through their on-campus mobile clinic. This is why and CalMedForce+ funding exists: To support those committed to improving community health. ✨ Application closes TODAY at 7 pm ➡️ calmedforce.org
