In celebration of National Child Passenger Safety Week, South Sacramento Family Resource Center () invited UC Davis Health and to train our staff on car seat safety, preparing them to educate parents and caregivers on the important things to look for when keeping their child safe in a vehicle. Our staff learned several important topics, including how to select the appropriate car seat, how to install a car seat correctly, when to transition to a booster seat, and when a child is ready to use a seatbelt based on their weight and age. To conclude the training week, they invited local parents and caregivers to learn about proper car seat installation and use of their car seats. Thank you, Safe Kids Greater Sacramento, for visiting us last week and for this valuable partnership!

Trunk or Treat will be here before we know it! Our Family Resource Centers are gearing up for their annual fall events, and any extra candy or prizes they can get to make the festivities complete would be a HUGE help! To wrap up the summer season, North Sac Family Resource Center hosted Carvinval Day, and it was quite the success, with 61 caregivers and 132 children who attended to make it a fun and lively day! We enjoyed games and prizes, delicious hot dogs and pizza, and fun treats like cotton candy. There were community organizations, amazing volunteers, pie-throwing, face painting, and the incredible Richy Bee’s One-Man Circus was there to add to the festivities. We were happy to see how much families thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
