⚠️ STUDIO REOPENING AUG. 1! ⚠️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With the most recent executive order signed by the governor, yoga studios have the ability to reopen for public classes beginning tomorrow: July 6. Having the ability is great but there’s also responsibility that comes along with it. Just because you have the ability to play with fireworks, should you risk it? To be clear: Furthur will not be opening up tomorrow. This is not a decision I take lightly and have been wrestling with it all weekend. The tentative studio reopening date is August 1.

The guiding principle for me to reopen the studio is the safety of our community and the surrounding area and that means mitigating the spread of COVID-19 as much as possible and limit potential contribution to it. Although Jersey’s numbers are trending in the right direction, the nation as a whole is experiencing a resurgence of COVID-19 cases which has led to other states slowing down reopening plans while others are re-closing businesses as positive cases rise. In a vacuum I would LOVE to reopen the studio at 6am tomorrow and welcome all of you with a giant smile on my face. Believe me, I’ve dreamed about that day for months since we had to close (and the studio is prepared and well-stocked to do so when the time is right). But unfortunately, we do not live in a bubble and I cannot turn a blind eye to the national status of this pandemic just because we received the “okay” from the state to reopen. For me, the responsible action is to hold tight for now and continue to monitor the pandemic across our state and nation over the next few weeks. And as need be, reschedule the reopening date.

When we do reopen the studio, it will look and feel different. We will be limited to much smaller class sizes and additional time will be allotted between classes to properly clean and disinfect the studio before the next class. Many other safety measures will be put into place that comply with state and CDC guidelines. More details to come over the next few weeks.
