Thank you, UC Davis School of Medicine and California Northstate University College of Medicine for inviting us to participate in the Medical Student Orientations! We met nearly 300 future physicians and welcomed them to the SSVMS community.

If these students are anything like their predecessors, we're going to have a big crop of high-quality physicians in a few short years.

Code Red: A National Pause to Save Medicaid
Monday, June 30 | 12:30 PM
Congress is advancing HR 1 — a bill that would gut Medicaid by over $900 billion, stripping coverage from more than 13 million Americans.

Right now, physicians and other health care professionals across the country are taking 10–15 minutes to pause, gather and stand in silent protest of these dangerous cuts.

*Wear your white coat
*Step outside or pause where you are
*Hold a sign (“Medicaid Saves Lives”)
*Take a group photo
*Share with

This is a nonpartisan, grassroots action — not a strike. It’s a public, physician-led act of conscience. It honors our oath to patients, not partisan politics.

📅 June Monthly Round-Up!

June was packed with purpose and play — and two events really stood out! ⬇️

🎠 On June 20, our Family Summer Social at Fairytale Town brought together 152 physicians and their loved ones. It was a joyful reminder that growing up is optional, and unwinding together matters.

🧠 We also hosted our program, where high school students explored the world of medicine through hands-on learning:
💉 CPR training
🚑 Ambulance tours
🩹 Casting/splinting demos
🍌 Banana suturing labs
🫀 Sheep organ dissections
🧪 Vitalant blood lab tours

We’re proud to support physicians and inspire future ones — that’s the SSVMS way. 💙

🩺 The Future of Medicine is looking brighter than ever!

Over the past few days, local high school students in our Future of Medicine summer program got hands-on experience in healthcare — from CPR training and Narcan demonstrations to an unforgettable tour of Vitalant - California's blood labs. They practiced casting/splinting and suturing, dissected sheep hearts, kidneys, and eyes, and even stepped inside an ambulance to see emergency care up close thanks to Chief Perryman and the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District!

We were honored to be joined by the Teichert Foundation, Senator Roger Niello’s office, and Supervisor Rich Desmond's office, who saw firsthand how this program is inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.

This is what investing in the future of medicine looks like. 💙
