Sac State Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology Neuro Service Alliance Integrating inter professional student learning, community service, and scholarly contributions

Neuro Service Alliance integrates interprofessional experiential student learning, community programs for adults with neurogenic cognitive-communication deficits and scholarly contributions to the literature. The overarching goal for the program services is to support a life participation approach, decrease barriers, and promotes quality of life. The opportunity to participate in and develop new social networks after stroke and other neurological involvement is essential to health and well-being. Our program is committed to promoting positive experiences in these areas on an ongoing basis.

Applications are OPEN! Ready to take the next step toward becoming an audiologist? Here’s how to apply:

1. Visit https://www.csus.edu/college/health-human-services/communication-sciences-disorders/doctorate-audiology.html -and-application-instructions 🦻

2. Complete your application in CSDCAS and Cal State Apply 🧑‍💻

3. Ask for letters of recommendation from two faculty in any discipline and one professional reference in audiology. 📩

4. Log your observation hours on the provided form. ⏰

5. Work on your essay (see our website for the prompt). 📝

Kicking off our first research spotlight with Dr. Hamid Motallebzadeh!

This summer, Dr. Motallebzadeh presented, “Simulation of middle-ear effusion effects on wideband acoustic immittance: A multi-step fluid-structure interaction approach,” at the International Symposium on Middle Ear Mechanics in Research and Otology in Belgium. 👂

Computational models of biological systems, including the middle ear, are essential for interpreting experimental data and predicting system behavior, particularly when direct measurements are limited. In this study, we developed an anatomically realistic model of the outer and middle ear, with the measurement probe placed in the canal, to investigate the effects of effusion volume, viscosity, and head orientation on wideband tympanometry outcomes.
