Hello Friends & Family of Gilded Roots Studio,
Oct 6th I returned to work for the 1st time after about 6 weeks. During this time away I was privileged and honored to be able to usher my father, James Scalzitti, from this existence on to the next with nothing less but the grace and dignity that someone who lived such a tremendous life as he did deserved. There is no way in all the worlds that I would have had the opportunity to do so without the support, understanding, and amazing patience of all of you. As many of you know (though some of you may not), I assumed the full time roll of primary caregiver for my father about 5 years ago. At the time of his passing he was 88 years old. Though he had been in decline for many years battling Alzheimer's dementia, chronic heart and pulmonary dysfunction, and general senescence, together we were able to fight for and maintain an awesome quality of life for Dad all the way up to his final days. Dad had no qualms about letting his family know that he was "sick and tired of being sick and tired" :) When the time came for him to give up the fight, he let us know in no uncertain terms that his time was fast approaching and that he was wholeheartedly ready. With a strength that I can only describe as supernatural, within a matter of days he made his decision, got well enough to provide us with a window of opportunity to get him out of the hospital and into the comfort of his own home (as was always his wish), and spent his final days in peace and comfort doing some of the things that he loved: chatting on the phone with family and friends, watching "GunSmoke" and "Bones" on television, and having lots of tasty sweet treats and coffee. Though it is always difficult to let go of the ones we love, I am so glad his struggle and suffering has come to an end.
I again wish to express my infinite gratitude to all of those who passed along words of encouragement, comfort, and condolence. Being held so lovingly by this community, not only during this transition, but throughout the many years of my journey and efforts to provide extraordinary care for my Dad in the twilight of his life, has helped me to understand that what I have been able to achieve in my practice has dwarfed early visions of what I sought to build at the start of Gilded Roots Studio. Beyond providing quality service or building community with friends and neighbors, I am so blessed to feel that my family has grown to incorporate so many of you. My life will always be bisected into the time before and after my Dad's passing. However, as I look forward into this next chapter of my life and all of the potential that it holds, I am filled with anticipation and gratitude that it will continue to include growing with all of you.
As Gilded Roots Studio gets back to its regularly scheduled programming, I will continue to ask for your patience as I catch up on all the messages and tasks that piled up during my bereavement. It is my hope that anyone whose appointment I had to cancel will have the opportunity to reschedule at least once within the month of October if they wish to do so. This means that I will most likely be working (part time) at least 2 weekends a month. I am so glad to be back in my "happy place", and am so looking forward to catching up with all of you. The link below will take you directly to my live availability and booking website. Please reach out to me via email or text message if you have any specific questions or concerns about rescheduling appointments or refunds of canceled sessions.
My sincerest thanks,
Jessica Scalzitti CMT #33457
