The Village Program The Village Program advocates for African American families in the Sacramento area. Join or support the Village Program today.

Through brotherhood and sisterhood our aim is to educate and provide support for families in our community. The Village Program is focused on reducing Infant Deaths in the African American community by enriching the lives of the entire family. The Village is a community service program that was developed from the Blue Ribbon Commission’s findings on African American Childhood Deaths. The Result of

this study showed that a great number of African American children were dying from three major causes, child abuse and neglect, infant sleep related deaths, and 3rd party homicide. The Village was charged with the task of providing African American parents in the Valley Hi and Meadowview (95822, 95823, 95828, 95831, & 95832) communities with information on child abuse and infant mortality prevention in an effort to reduce/ eliminate this epidemic. (With a focus on families who have children 0-5 years old) This is done primarily through culturally centered classes, home support, community events, resources, and outreach. Come with an idea ready so we can maximize the most of our time together! 💡

We’re having our first ever shoe customization workshop 👟🔥here at the South Sacramento FRC this Wednesday!! It’s time to bring out a pair of new or gently used shoes of yours and revamp them!
(A youth shoe workshop will be conducted sometime in June once the kiddos get out of school!)

🧑‍🧑‍🧒 Playcare can be provided - mention when completing registration.
🍕 Food will be provided
