Coming in January to the Community Center in Safety Harbor - Intro to Yoga ❤️
Are you yoga-curious? Is this ancient practice something you’ve tried, but you got discouraged and gave up? Or does the whole idea seem intimidating and unreachable? This course is for you! Yoga is for EVERYONE. Starting with the very basics, this four-part workshop will advance you safely and mindfully, giving you the knowledge, strength and understanding to navigate the world of yoga classes out there, or give you the confidence to develop your own home practice. All levels are welcome. The whole workshop is only $80, or $20/class (registering for the full workshop is highly recommended!).
Jan 8 - Module 1 - Awareness and Alignment:
Yoga is a journey of the self. Understanding your baseline, and where you are on your journey will be explored. Learn the basic alignment principles, and how to apply them to beginning postures.
Feb 5 - Module 2 - Breath and Movement:
Breath is just as important as the poses in yoga, and connecting breath to movement creates a meditative, calming energy in the body and mind. Learn breath work and gentle sequences that hone the mind-body connection.
Mar 5 - Module 3 - Strength and Transitions :
Strength is needed to attain the more challenging postures, as well as to transition from one posture to the next. We’ll explore effective ways to strengthen and increase range of motion and mobility.
Apr 2 - Module 4 - Modifying and Props : As you enter the world of yoga classes, it’s important to know how to modify on your own, for your body, as well as a general knowledge of how to use the many props available to enhance your practice.
Classes are on a Wednesday from 11am-12:30 pm. Registration is open, and you can register at www.cityofsafetyharbor.com. Select Parks, Recreation and Special Events, and then type in the class code 148011 in the activity search field. Or you can register in person at any Safety Harbor rec bldg.
As a yoga teacher for nearly thirty years, I’ve seen yoga move from obscurity to mainstream, and see the need for this introductory course. Please feel free to message me with any questions. Namaste 🙏 Debra Love
