Barbara Tandyk

Barbara Tandyk, a remarkable woman known for her unwavering spirit and dedication to serving others, passed away on July 19, 2025, in Solomon, Arizona, at the age of 87. Born on March 11, 1938, in Gary, Indiana, Barbara's life was shaped by resilience and love, as she faced challenges with an inspiring grace that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

From a young age, Barbara exhibited a zest for life that was both infectious and uplifting. At only 13 years old, she contracted polio, a battle that confined her to a board for an entire year. Yet, even this hardship could not dim her indomitable spirit. Barbara not only overcame the illness but excelled academically, completing all four years of high school during that time. Following her graduation, she began working at her father’s car lot, laying the foundation for a hardworking and dedicated career.

Professionally, Barbara spent years as an engraver for Motorola, contributing her craft with precision and artistry while continuing to create beautiful memories for those around her. Her dedication was not limited to her profession; she was a big advocate for children, dedicating much of her life to ensuring their voices were heard and their needs met.

In 1972, Barbara married John Ken Tandyk in Phoenix, Arizona, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that enriched her life deeply. Together they created a family that has continued to shine brightly through the legacy of kindness and support she fostered.

Barbara's hobbies ranged from art to gardening, reflecting her passion for creativity and nature. In her community, she was a beloved member of the Red Hat Society, where her vibrant personality and enthusiasm were always a source of joy. Furthermore, her courageous spirit saw her serving on the Search & Rescue team, being a part of the Honor Guard, and proudly standing with the VFW/American Legion, accomplishments that she held dear in her heart.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward: her daughters Debra Sue Congdon, Shirley Ann Tuggle, Loretta Mae Ramos, Glenda Arlene Kincaid, and the late Teresa Renee Blystra; her brother Paul Barden; as well as a cherished lineage of 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, John Ken Tandyk; her parents, Oscar Paul Barden and Alberta Mae Trump; and her siblings Iris, Diane, and Judy. Each of these individuals played a significant role in her life, and their memories remain intertwined with her own.

As we remember Barbara Tandyk, we celebrate not just the life she lived, but the impact she had on this world—a beacon of service, love, and resilience. Her legacy will forever inspire us to be present for others and to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. The world is quieter without her laughter and compassion, but her spirit lives on in the lives she touched, the children she championed, and the family she so dearly loved.

Patti Ann Davis Thygerson

February 15, 1955 to July 8, 2025

Patti Ann Davis Thygerson was born in Morenci, Arizona, to Jerry Mosby Davis and Patsy Katherine McCarty Davis on February 15, 1955, and was lovingly known as “Sis” to her brothers, Mike and Mick.

Raised on McCarty Flats near Duncan, Patti Ann treasured her childhood—helping her father on the family ranch and playing with cousins. She attended Duncan High School, where she lettered in varsity volleyball and tennis as a freshman and was voted FFA Sweetheart.

Patti Ann married her high school sweetheart, Randy Thygerson, and together they raised two children: Amy Lu (Jones) and Pacen Randall Thygerson. She later began a career at Valley National Bank in Duncan, where she was honored two years running as Arizona’s Top Teller—winning trips to Kauai, Hawaii, and Puerto Vallarta.

A spirited community member, Patti Ann loved working at the Duncan Horse Races (she had an uncanny knack for picking winners), and she joyfully supported local ropings, FFA, and was a Women's Club member. She traveled all over the country with Pacen during his PBR bull-riding career.

Above all, she was most proud of her family—and for the past several years had been living closer to them, sharing life with Amy and her grandchildren. To her grandkids, she was lovingly known as “Muma.” Muma was able to enjoy family dinners, movie nights, tons of basketball games, gymnastic competitions, fun trips, and so much more.

Patti was hospitalized for a minor surgical procedure not knowing it would result in a month-long hospital stay, multiple surgeries and that she would not be returning to the home she shared with her family. With Amy and Pacen by her side day and night, watching her strength and spirit on display as she battled through pain and complication after complication, she passed from this life on July 8th.

She is survived by her children, Amy (Neal) and Pacen (Victoria); grandchildren Samantha (Austin), Rhett, Weston (Kaycee), Rees, Gia, Kingston, Jojo (Justin), Carley, Joseph (Mireya), Iasic, Devin; great-grandchildren Trevor, Oliver, Emerson, Beau and Lucas. She was preceded in death by her husband Randy (2013) and two grandchildren, Annie Lu Brown and Dallin Michael Brown.

A “Celebration Of Life” will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the Old Virden Church/Community Center, with a sunset burial to follow at the Virden Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family in honoring Patti Ann’s joy, warmth, and legacy.
