Guess what?! Doulas can do just that as a part of your postpartum care. Proper nutrition is vital for new moms and so is rest. I love taking some of the more mundane tasks off mom's plate so they can focus on something they'd like to do.

Warm those fl**ges! Less time with the pump and more time getting baby snuggles!

Sometimes it's a combination of all the little things that can make pumping easier and less time-consuming, such as hands-on pumping (massage, breast compressions, hand expression), using a hands-free pumping bra, relaxation techniques....and also warming the fl**ges!

This study investigated the dynamics of milk removal during simultaneous breast expression in women (Kent at al, 2012*) found that when a fl**ge was warmed, the time to remove 80% of the milk pumped was decreased from 6.8 minutes to 4.8 minutes.

😍 So in other words, warm fl**ges = shorter pumping times. Flanges can be warmed by placing them in a bowl of hot water.

The results of the study were supported by ultrasound imagining which showed a significant reduction in ni**le duct diameter with cold versus warm ultrasound gel.
