The Community Outreach & Resource Exchange (CORE) Office in Room 312 at the health department is a welcoming space where you can walk in and connect with caring staff dedicated to helping you focus on what matters most – your health.

In Room 312 and at frequent pop-up locations around the county, our team offers preventive health screenings like FREE cholesterol and glucose testing and blood pressure checks. Room 312 also offers FREE body composition scans for weight management and access to free or low-cost health and safety supplies.

Saginaw County Health Department will be closed for a staff training tomorrow, April 9th from 11:30am to 5pm. We will reopen Friday, April 10th at 8:00am.

Thanks to the commitment of families, schools, businesses and healthcare providers, Saginaw County's vaccination rates continue to be higher than the state average, signaling our collective commitment to preventing disease. Last year, the Saginaw County Health Department provided 3,015 vaccines. During National Public Health Week and always, we applaud you for helping protect one another and for making public health a shared priority. Together, we’re building a healthier future for everyone.

Last year, SCHD helped divert 243,793 pounds of household chemicals, electronics, hazardous substances and medications from local landfills — thanks to our materials management program, which preserves and protects our ground water and environment. We celebrate our environmental health experts every day for the work they do to keep our food, air and water safe. During National Public Health Week, we want to give them a special shout out!

THIS is public health -- advocating for new support and resources for families in the City of Saginaw, Bridgeport and Buena Vista townships. SCHD is proud to champion Rx Kids -- an evidence-based program encouraging pregnant moms in these three communities to apply to receive $1,500 during pregnancy and $500 per month for the first six month of their child's life.

Together with our BWell Saginaw partners, the health department worked to bring this transformative program to Saginaw to support our maternal & child health improvement plans.

There's no better time to celebrate this accomplishment than National Public Health Week April 6-12. Rx Kids embodies public health in action. Join us in recognizing how public health improves our daily lives, safeguards our families, expands our life spans, and strengthens our communities.
