Employee Spotlight: Miranda Hafner 🧡

In celebration of Occupational Therapy Month, we’re proud to highlight Miranda, one of our dedicated occupational therapists at Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare!

Each day, Miranda helps patients regain independence by focusing on functional tasks that prepare them for a safe return home. She discovered her passion for occupational therapy in college and has now been with our team for nearly three years. ✨

Miranda loves building connections with her patients and seeing their progress, especially when they are able to return home and get back to living. She also serves as co-chair of the Amputee Committee and is an ostomy super user, supporting patients as they navigate life as new ostomate!

Outside of work, she enjoys kayaking, traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with loved ones. She is also a big Lions and Michigan fan. Something surprising? She can juggle! 🤹‍♀️

Her advice: Always first consider what is most important to each patient and what their individual goals are. Patients are most engaged and work hardest when they are doing things that are important to them.

When Jo Jo Jimenez faced a life-changing brain injury in 2023, his family saw the power of rehabilitation firsthand at Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare.

So when his dad, JJ, recently suffered an aneurysm, they knew exactly where to turn.

It looks like this dad and son share more than resilience. They share a love for drumming too. 🥁

We were honored to celebrate JJ’s Very Mary graduation and another meaningful milestone for this incredible family.

Stories like these remind us that when challenges arise, the right care and support can make all the difference. 🧡

A sister’s support can make all the difference in recovery. 🧡

Originally from Bay City, Beverly came into town to help care for her sister Betty after she experienced a stroke. But during their time together, an unexpected moment left both sisters with similar neck injuries, with Beverly also injuring her leg.

For the first time at Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare, Betty and Beverly became our first “twins” in rehabilitation.
What stood out most was their incredible sister bond. ✨

From playing games during therapy to sharing meals and even being interviewed by ABC12 News, these two did everything side by side. 🎥

Their love and support for one another made their time here truly special and reminded us all that healing can be even stronger when you don’t have to do it alone. 🎉

Our first adaptive pickleball clinic this past weekend really served up something special! 🏓🧡

A huge thank you to our amazing employee volunteers, our partners at Michigan Sports Unlimited, and the Saginaw YMCA for hosting us and supporting adaptive sports in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Mark’s Very Mary graduation is one to celebrate. 🎓✨

After coming to us from Covenant HealthCare, Mark from Auburn spent 36 days with our team after undergoing surgery for a second neck fracture.

At one point, there was concern he would not walk again.

Today, Mark is walking up to 300 feet with assistance and even accumulated 1,200 feet in a single therapy session. Take a moment to check out his progress! 👣

When he first arrived, Mark needed help advancing his leg while walking. Now he can move it forward on his own! He also went from needing two people to help with transfers to being able to stand with steady assistance. 💪

“It’s been wonderful. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I have to thank you all.”
