Known for her compassion, clinical expertise, and dedication to patient care, Haley has recently completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Michigan University.

National Infertility Awareness Week: Allyssa's Story

Cancer & Infertility

My husband and I began our trying to conceive journey in April 2021. This year was full of ovulation tests, innumerable pregnancy tests (all negative), intense tracking, and even a few medicated cycles. After a full year of trying, I decided to have a laparoscopic procedure to evaluate closer. Unexpectedly, a peritoneal lesion was found to be ovarian cancer, which I was diagnosed with at only 24 years old. After chemotherapy and a total hysterectomy, I am now cancer free! However, this completely shattered my chance at motherhood naturally. We are now on a quest to find a surrogate using my sisters eggs, which she so generously will be donating. Infertility is individual to each and every person. I want to bring more awareness to infertility after young adult cancer, especially now that it is impacting more and more people. We are hopeful for the future and trust that God will work everything out according to His plan!

National Infertility Awareness Week: Shannon's Story

After struggling with infertility for five years, we finally decided to set up an appointment with Dr. Shamma in hopes of getting some answers. We went through multiple rounds of testing, and after lots of prayer and counsel, we chose to pursue IVF. In August of 2023, we did a fresh transfer, and by God’s grace, we became pregnant on our first round.
In May of 2024, we welcomed our miracle baby girl into the world. As we approach her first birthday, we’re still in awe that she’s here. Becoming parents to this precious girl has been the greatest joy of our lives—something we once feared might never happen.
We are endlessly grateful to Dr. Shamma and the incredible nurses at IVF Saginaw for walking alongside us through every step of this journey. Though the road was difficult at times, every moment was worth it the day we held our miracle baby in our arms.
