On August 25th, Green Mountain Transit has combined the Milton and St. Albans commuter route into a new route called "Route 96". This new route helps increase the number of runs a day to 5, which should help benefit some commuters in the community. NMC's very own Peter Wright, FACHE President & CEO participated in the Knights of Columbus Council 297 hosted 107th blood drive at St. Albans City Hall a couple of weeks ago! Thanks Peter for donating and helping them reach their goal of 3,000 units donated!

Nominate a NMC Nurse for the DAISY Award today! This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate care nurses provide to patients and families every day.

Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Northwestern Medical Center to receive The DAISY Award. Awards are presented throughout the year at celebrations attended by the Honoree’s colleagues, patients, and visitors.

The discussion of a new water filtration system for sterilization processes in Surgical Services at NMC has prompted questions about the municipal water supply. (See information published on our website.)

Our water is tested regularly by state-certified labs to ensure safety and compliance with federal and state regulations. This gives us confidence that the municipal water supply is safe and drinkable.

Our new system filters water coming into our Central Sterile area raises the water purity to the scientific level of “Critical Water” - a term from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation.

This added level of purity isn’t needed for drinking water – it is used in rinsing medical devices. Water is used for many different purposes. For example, the water used in a home washing machine doesn’t require the same level of purity as what is used to clean surgical equipment.
