Austin Lafountaine, an Environmental Services Tech earned NMC's most recent High Reliability Champion honors after being nominated by his peers.

The nomination read:
“We would like to nominate Austin as he went above and beyond to help out after his shift had ended. We had a very busy day on FBC and had numerous rooms to be cleaned and he stayed after his shift to assure that these were taken care of. This enabled us to move our delivered patients to the appropriate post partum rooms in a timely fashion. He is always engaged when you approach him and always receptive and responsive in helping out wherever needed.”

Last month, Gina Franzoni, a Ultrasonographer in DI earned NMC's most recent High Reliability Champion honors after being nominated by a peer!

The nomination read:
“A patient came through the ED, and an US exam was ordered on her that was a repeat from two days prior. Gina insisted that the patient have labs drawn prior to the ultrasound being completed to make sure we were gaining all pertinent information on the patient to give the best possible care. She worked closely with the ED provider, the on-call OB provider, and the Radiologist to make sure the patient was obtaining the correct exam. This information also allowed all of the sonographers to get the most important information needed in order to do a complete study on the patient to help the Radiologist make a differential diagnosis. This shows exemplary use of High Reliability for our patients, and I am thankful that Gina went the extra mile for her patient.”

On Thursday, Heather Tremblay, RN from the Emergency Department was honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform everyday. An excerpt from the nomination said:

"...As a mom to only one child whose never had any major medical issues, it was so extremely comforting knowing the one taking care of him was just as caring and concerned about him as I was. Maybe to her it was a normal day on the job but to me, she showed true compassion and care for my baby. As a mom, its hard to trust anyone with your baby, but in that moment I trusted her 100 percent. I knew that she was gonna take great care of him, and to hear that she was actually rooting for him outside the room too was the best thing a mother could hear. She turned a situation that could have been traumatic for my baby into something fun. She truly cares about her patients. Bonus: She also sent him home with a mickey mouse puzzle after seeing his blanket was mickey mouse. He talked about it the rest of the day!"
