Before matching ever happens, education comes first.

At Vermont Surrogacy, we believe informed yeses matter more than fast yeses. That’s why we take the time to walk potential surrogates through the medical, emotional, and physical realities of the journey, before any commitments are made.

From understanding medicated and unmedicated cycles to talking honestly about timelines and expectations, our process is built on clarity, transparency, and respect.

Because surrogacy isn’t about being rushed, it’s about being ready.

Some parts of the surrogacy journey continue quietly, after the birth and outside the spotlight.

For some matches, that continuation looks like breast milk, pumped, stored, shipped, and offered with care during a baby’s earliest days. While pumping and shipping are often discussed during matching and outlined clearly in a contract, there are times when plans change. A surrogate may not expect to produce milk… and her body does anyway.

What happens next matters.

When Intended Parents step forward to support pumping, even outside the original agreement, it reflects care not only for the baby’s health, but for the surrogate herself. It honors her recovery, her time, and the physical work her body continues to do after delivery.

Breast milk provides powerful early immunological benefits, and choosing to prioritize it is often a baby-centered decision rooted in trust, flexibility, and mutual respect.

At Vermont Surrogacy Network, we believe surrogacy works best when clear agreements are paired with compassion. Contracts provide structure. Care provides heart.

It’s Whimsical Wednesday!

Time for a little lighthearted perspective on the extraordinary journey of surrogacy.

Sometimes the best way to celebrate the courage, resilience, and generosity of gestational surrogates is to smile together at the quirky side of the experience.

“I’m not just pregnant… I’m on a nine-month Airbnb contract.”

“Being a surrogate is like being a human incubator, only with more snacks and Netflix.”

We know surrogacy is deeply meaningful, profound, and life-changing, but that doesn’t mean we can’t laugh at the unique moments along the way.

After her family felt complete, Morgan felt something unexpected.

A quiet pull to help another family begin theirs.

Surrogacy wasn’t an easy or impulsive choice. It was a year of reflection, research, conversations, and listening to her heart. Through the process, Morgan discovered new strength, learned how to advocate for herself, and experienced the profound moment of watching parents meet their baby for the very first time.

Her journey wasn’t about perfection. It was about intention, growth, and generosity.

Stories like Morgan’s remind us that surrogacy doesn’t just create families. It transforms the women who choose it, too.

If you’ve ever wondered whether surrogacy might be part of your story, we’re here to walk that path with you 🤍

Medicated or unmedicated — which surrogacy path is right?

One of the most confusing situations for a prospective surrogates is whether medications are required. The honest answer? It depends — and you may have options.

In gestational surrogacy, some embryo transfers are done using hormone medications to carefully control timing. Others follow a natural or modified natural cycle, working with the surrogate’s own rhythm. Clinical research shows that both approaches can lead to successful pregnancies and healthy births, and in many cases, natural cycles perform just as well for surrogates who ovulate regularly.

At Vermont Surrogacy Network, we believe surrogates deserve clear information, real choices, and support that centers their health and comfort — not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Because surrogacy is about more than medicine.
It’s about people.

Winter is the season to slow down, stay warm, and fuel your body with foods that truly support you. For surrogates, nourishment matters even more—energy, balance, and comfort are not luxuries, they are essentials.

This winter lineup was curated with you in mind. A hearty winter salad packed with seasonal produce. A honey mustard chicken sheet pan meal that makes dinner easy without sacrificing nutrition. A farro salad with basil vinaigrette for steady energy and whole-grain goodness. A broccoli cranberry salad that brings crunch, color, and immune support. Easy baked oatmeal for cozy mornings that last all day. The best lactation cookies because support can be delicious. And fudgy black bean brownies that prove nourishment and indulgence can coexist.

These meals and treats are simple, comforting, and deeply satisfying—perfect for cold days, busy schedules, and the incredible work surrogates do every day.

Because caring for others starts with caring for yourself.

Winter can be a meaningful time to strengthen connection between surrogates and intended parents. Here are five simple, intentional ways to stay connected during the colder months:

Schedule cozy video chats and calls: Go beyond texting by setting up regular video or phone check-ins to share updates, feelings, and everyday moments that help bridge the distance.

Share winter traditions and fun facts: Exchange favorite recipes, childhood winter memories, or seasonal hobbies to build personal bonds and deepen connection.

Celebrate small milestones and moments: Acknowledge appointments, scan results, paperwork progress, or even the simple act of showing up for one another.

Send thoughtful notes or small tokens: Handwritten cards, cozy winter gifts, or kind messages show appreciation and help create a loving story for the baby.

Create quiet, grounding moments together: Share journaling prompts, suggest a short walk, or pause for a few breaths together to honor the emotions of the season.

Connection grows through consistency, care, and presence. For the full article visit our blog @ VTSurrogacy.com

Mid-winter can feel long, but small, supportive habits can make a big difference. Here are seven simple ways to help beat the mid-winter blues:

Maximize natural light: Get outside daily, sit near a bright window, or consider a light therapy lamp.

Stay active: Gentle movement like walking, yoga, or stretching can boost mood and energy.

Nourish your body: Focus on balanced meals, stay hydrated, and consider Vitamin D if recommended.

Prioritize sleep: Keep a consistent sleep routine to support energy and emotional balance.

Stay connected: Reach out to friends, family, or neighbors—even brief check-ins matter.

Find joy: Make time for activities you enjoy, from reading to winter hobbies.

Practice self-care: Slow down with journaling, mindfulness, warm baths, or a cozy cup of tea.

You don’t have to do them all—start with one that feels manageable today.
