✨Did you know the sphincters of the throat and pelvic floor are energetically linked?✨
Releasing jaw tension opens the cervix —
We can see the correlation in the anatomical design! (Isn’t anatomy cool?). When one is tense or rigid, the other mirrors that. 🪞
Our body is not isolated organs and parts that function independently of each other. 🫁
In fact energetic and spiritual connections are precisely how our body communicates to itself. 💫
➡️What does the Throat-Cervix connection have to do with birth?
We often hold tension in our face, specifically the forehead and jaw. 👄When a contraction hits, our cervix mirrors that tension and tightens around baby’s head, causing pain or a stall in dilation. That’s No Bueno! 🙅🏼♀️
It’s unconscious! We “grin and bear it” when we feel stress or pain in our body, but it causes more tension and pain.
Frozen muscles can’t open and expand! 🥶
Instead, try this:
✅Practice opening and relaxing your jaw during contractions. Allow your jaw to slightly hang open. 👄
✅Ask your birth partner to tell you if you clench your jaw or face. 👀
✅Vocalize! The vibration has to be DEEP and LOW. 🗣
✅Make “O” sounds in birth: ⭕️
“Ooohhhhh”
“Oooooopen”
“Dooooooown”
✅Sing! the vibrations of singing open the throat and cervix. 🎙
✅ Still tense? Try horse lips! 🐴 You’ll look ridiculous, but trust me, it works! It immediately releases tension from your mouth and pelvic floor.
❗️How you posture yourself before ever contraction directly influences how you FEEL that contraction in your body.❗️
