Things I learned today..
1) The highest ranking woman in the military was fired. Not great, IMO. But then forced to move out of her home with just three hours notice despite having originally been given the customary time to relocate. The army chaplain brat I was during my high school years remembers rules for that sort of thing. Because, you know, laws. Norms. And stuff.
2) There is a bill in the House that (among many other things I'm trying to sort out) will require people to register to vote with the same name on their birth certificate as on their federal ID. So married women who change their name will be disenfranchised. Kept mine both times because I'm a stubborn bitch. But worried for a lot of other women who like that silly voting thing.
3) Elon thinks your tax refund (I never have one - self/employed) and Mom's social security are illegal. Because he is suddenly a constitutional scholar. An unelected one.
4) People are stock-piling Prosecco because tariffs to the EU??? This may be the most currently terrifying bit of info.
5) Birds are almost falling out of the sky because of avian-flu. And it's in cattle now. Goody.
6) Oh! Almost forgot! Christians in America are so persecuted they need protection. Hey... I Love Jesus' teachings. A lot. Preacher's Kid over here. But haven't seen too many crucifixions in the US for...ever. We did have a few Witches die though.
7) Trump is taking over as chairman The Kennedy Center so he can tell us what the Golden Age of Art will be. Can't wait for that. As an artist and poet, I'm Not Happy. As a human, well... Could be worse. I may starve but won't die... Then again, NVMD. Who knows?
I Love you all... But my brain is broke. Heart is still strong. Stay informed. Stay humble. Stay brave. Stay away from bu****it and think it ALL through. Listen to each other (even when we don't agree so we can thesis/antithesis/synthesis for a minute).
I haven't had time to fully vet all of the above. I trust the sources but won't pretend I was in the room so feel free to fact-check me the best you can with what we have. I'm always willing to be wrong, re-think, and get smarter. And better. And love more.
Xo,
H.
(Don't ask me about 5. You don't want to know.)
